Whoa 30 more years till I'm there.. Congrats I like listening to the old cats about the good ol days. Teaches us young cats a thing or two.

Shame a lot of y'all listen but don't learn. I'm not saying you're one of them. There was an old guy who lived next door to us when I was in my teens. I used to go sit on his porch and he'd tell me about how things were during WWI. He wasn't in the military. So, I got the stateside view. Pretty interesting.

I listen I like to hear that stuff, especially the old firefighters and traditions. Things like that, my uncle has been retired for awhile and I listen how it used to be.

My first wife's grandfather was the Fire Chief in two different Tennessee cities for a long time. Two different times. He finally retired in the mid 60's. He always had some good stories.

Seemed like it was bare bones stuff. Ladders, hoses and axes. No SCBA or other new fangled stuff.:p

Nope they used to go in there with heavy cotton hoses and breathe thru the nozzle and couplings, they used to keep the couplings loose so they could breathe when things got bad.
