The Official Countdown To Tennessee Football 2025 (75 Days) (Sat. Aug 30 Syracuse)

83 Days!

In a 2022 contest against Vanderbilt, Jaylen Wright had an 83 yard touchdown run. Dylan Sampson had an 80 yard touchdown run. It was the first time in Tennessee history that the Vols had two 80 plus yard touchdown runs in a single game.

In addition to his 83yrd TD run, Jaylan Wright had a 50yrd TD run. Jabari Small had a 52yrd TD run, also.

Do you know if we'd had a game with 4 50yrd TD runs before?

What’s that, son?

Yes, Tennessee gained over 200 yards rushing on just those four plays.

Well, no, that’s not necessarily normal, but you see, son, Tennessee and Vanderbilt are like siblings forced to compete against each other… Adopted siblings.

You say your parents went to Vanderbilt?…We don’t always make the best decisions when we’re young.

When it’s your time to choose a college, you can go to Tennessee. Go Big Orange!

80 Days!
#1 Auburn rolled into Knoxville in 1985. Tennessee won 38-20. The Volunteer defense held Auburn star Bo Jackson to only 80 yards in 17 carries, well below his 247.5 average in the first two games.

Bo knows the Big Orange defense ( up close and personal)

Side bar: Tennessee has defeated Alabama 40 times, more than any other team in CFB.

Nick Saban had a perfect record against Tennessee until 2022. Lucifer’s Vessel retired after Alabama’s 2023 season, in which they defeated Tennessee and revenged that blemish. There’s been a lot of speculation about the timing of Saban’s retirement, but the thought that he refused to hang it up after a loss to Tennessee carries as much weight as any other reason offered.

I’m so glad we gave him a retirement present.

#75 Anthony Parker
Offensive Line (2005-08)

Anthony Parker played in 44 games on the offensive line at Tennessee, starting the last 38 that he played in. The Jonesboro, Ga., native earned All-SEC first team honors in 2007 selected by both the Associated Press and the coaches. The Vols led the nation with only four sacks allowed in 2007, as Parker also reeled in All-America second team honors via the AP .
