Derrick Tinsley hauled in two touchdown passes from Casey Clausen as Tennessee triumphed over Kentucky 24-0 on November 30th, 2002 to close out the season. Clausen, playing through a sprained right ankle and foot, went 13-of-26 for 175 yards with no interceptions. Tinsley finished with four receptions for a career-best 72 yards.

On October 26th, 2019, South Carolina visited Neyland Stadium, where Tennessee dominated the game, securing a 41-21 victory. Jauan Jennings contributed significantly, with 5 carries for 18 yards and 7 receptions for 174 yards, including 2 touchdowns.

On January 1, 2024, Tennessee faced Iowa in the Citrus Bowl. Tennessee's defense dominated, allowing just 173 yards, as they shut out Iowa with a decisive 35-0 victory.

On September 18, 2004, Tennessee secured a thrilling 30-28 victory over Florida at Neyland Stadium. The game’s hero was James Wilhoit, who redeemed himself by nailing a game-winning 50-yard field goal. Quarterback Erik Ainge completed 16 of 24 passes for 192 yards and three touchdowns, while Brent Schaeffer added to the effort by completing 3 of 4 passes for 40 yards and rushing seven times for 38 yards. Gerald Riggs Jr. contributed 63 rushing yards on 15 carries, and Cedric Houston added 53 yards on nine attempts. As a team, the Volunteers totaled 171 rushing yards on 44 carries.

On November 8th, 2003, Tennessee traveled to Miami and became the first visiting team to win at the Orange Bowl since Penn State on September 18, 1999. Tennessee slugged their way to a 10-6 victory, despite gaining only 170 yards of total offense—81 passing and 89 rushing.

Lester McClain's on-field contributions included catching 70 passes for 1,003 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also rushed 30 times for 123 yards and two touchdowns and returned eight kickoffs for 168 yards. McClain was selected by the Chicago Bears in the ninth round in the 1971 NFL Draft.

Carl Zander came to Knoxville from Mendham, NJ. From 1981-84 he recorded 342 tackles. Only 21 men with 300+ career in UT history.

He earned All-SEC honors in 1984 and 167 tackles ranks as 5th most in a season in Vol history.

He recorded a UT bowl record 20 tackles in the 1984 Sun Bowl. It was matched by Jeremy Banks in the Music City Bowl.

He was drafted by Cincinnati in the 2nd round of the 1985 NFL Draft and played with the Bengals from 1985-91.
