The Official CoronaZoneVirus Thread

being in IT is the worst job right now. We are test prepping people working from home and half of them don't know how to turn their PCs on
We have so many working from home on govt computers that our bandwidth is sapped. I was broadcasting and feeding a live stream town hall briefing about it all today and literally as the lady was telling people to use their personal computers for Facebook, YouTube, music, etc, the internet went out and crashed the stream.

Our big issue here is that corporate policy is that no home computers can access our internal network. We've been having to setup VPNs on all home client devices, combined that with VNC Viewer so they can remote into their desktop machine and work that way. Lot's of hoops.

Yea essentially the same. But they go home, log onto their govt computer via vpn and then play on fb, YouTube, whatever. They did actually disable YouTube, but that also has drawbacks, because we were troubleshooting one of our Studio video cameras yesterday and would’ve loved to watch tutorials on YouTube but nope

And to be honest, the military provider struggles with bandwidth in normal situations

I have no idea what any of this means, so shut up!

@508mikey, I went all over the county this morning, for my trouble, 1 container of Clorox wipes. I talked to all the owners and no one will tell you when they get stock in (yes, I explained the situation, didn't matter to them), In my management meeting, I told all the supervisors, we are going about this the wrong way. Instead of a couple going out everyday, reach out to all the employees and community. Everyone goes to different stores at different times of the day, and for them to pick up their limit and I would make sure they are reimbursed. If this doesn't work, I may resort to hijacking a delivery truck.

Im venturing out to either Kroger (for real food) and Walmart (only for gatorade and Coke zero there because its still cheaper there) - Ill let you know how things are here -- Its pouring rain right now, so maybe its a good time to go
