So today, we are cheering for:

LSU over MSU
Georgia over Ole Miss
Texas over Vanderbilt
Kentucky over South Carolina
Oklahoma over Auburn
aTm over Florida

Reason being, those are the teams on the right are the ones we have a chance to catch in the standings. Also, we still play Kentucky and Oklahoma, so we can help ourselves with them (and I don’t want UK to come into the weekend on a 6-game sec losing streak).

Last chance for LSU, trailing MSU 13-8, T9…gave it a ride, 1 down…1 on, 1 out…2 down…ground out. Same routine PH comes in…I’m sure there’s a reason but it’s odd.

Come to think of it, been a weird season in the SEC.

I recognize that much has been made of Jay’s transfer portal acquisitions, but I truly believe that it’s going to be much tougher to put together an “everything school” now that NIL has become so bonkers. Women’s gymnastics probably funds itself (Livvy might be the only person to ever gain from NIL “properly”), but how are you going to pay Wade/give him an entire roster, pay Kiffin/build out his squad, pay Kim/keep that cupboard stacked, pay Jay… it’s just too much, and I feel the same way about Tennessee as well.

Every P4 school has mega-rich boosters, but I’m concerned only Michigan/UCLA/Texas+Texas A&M (hah!) will have the financial wherewithal to be consistent all-sports schools in a few years. Haslam and Boyd could fund Tennessee athletics fully just as the Raising Canes guy can handle LSU, but I don’t feel that most programs have the same volume of whales as the major coastal/oil schools to sustain a completely top-flight athletics department.

Well the struggles continue for the defending national champs , not sure if it’s let down from the players , less time to recruit due to playing so late or that every team they play has a little more to prove .
