The Official #19 Tennessee Volunteers @ #8 UGA Bulldogs Series Thread (Fri. 3/13 6PM ET SECN+) (Sat. 3/14 5PM ET SECN) (Sun. 3/15 1PM ET SECN+ )

Could have sworn I was watching UT/UK basketball game today. Could see it coming. Shoukd have pulled pitcher when they got 2 on in the 7th. Damn. Poor guy got hung out to dry.
I thought the game was lost in the 4th. Ga had walked 2 straight, guys on 1st and 2nd and no outs. Abernathy comes up and immediately tries 2 bunts and then strikes out. Righty vs lefty and Ga pitcher struggling. Abernathy batting .275 and I think Elander should have gone for the jugular.

I felt the same thing in that moment, but idk who you have pinch hit for him there. The hot hitters already in the lineup. It’s Jay’s own fault for watching 2 pitches go straight down broadway imo, and you already know this ump is calling that shin ball as a strike every time.

I don’t keep files on other coaches outside the SEC, however a national search for a proven HC is common (unless you are aTm and you saw how that turned out) for a top 5 program is not too much to ask. Obviously Danny didn’t think it was worth the time. Example: LSU vs aTm
There was no “proven coach” that was going to try to step into the long shadow cast by Vitello.

Eh…? Hard to know for sure. Ask Jimmy, maybe. He’d know for sure. But keeping the team together by tabbing E was high on Danny’s priorities list. Similar to A&M maintaining Earley for their roster.

Something Danny knew Elander would not have to deal with:

Talent vacuum that schlossnagle created

I’m not sure what level of experience would help a coach see what happened yesterday any clearer. Elander was apparently the ONLY human on earth that couldn’t clearly see what was happening.
This after riding Blanco too long. I just hope this doesn’t have long term consequences. Krenzel looked visibly shaken.

Strange to say, we should have easily had 10 runs but the same bats keep coming up empty in this lineup.

99% of the fanbase (myself included) would’ve been and was furious over Danny potentially not hiring Elander.

Elander is 20 games into his coaching career, y’all have got to give him some grace (even though I know the fanbase I’m talking to)

With the timing of V leaving in the middle of fall practice and most all other schools doing the same it’s hard to believe any proven winner would leave their team at that time , had V left after the season it could have been different but under the circumstances I think E was the right choice and he’s gonna fine , in today’s game the coaches are concerned about how often guys get up and get loose in the bullpen and it makes it more difficult to manage the pen , in the past it wasn’t uncommon to have 2 guys getting ready in the pen from the 5th inning on

I feel bad for Stone. He's getting raked on social media for his theatrics after hitting what he thought was a no-doubter. You can't do that unless you know it's long gone.

This last sentence is why I don't feel bad for him. Hopefully he, and the rest of the team, are humbled by that.

16-14 in ‘23 and ‘25, got us to the CWS. In the SEC, .500 gets you close to hosting a Regional.

Don't get all logical on them...

C. Burke has said it for years... don't get swept on the road and win your home series.

They let a golden opportunity slip away. Hopefully they learn from it and move on.

I have always agreed with this approach. I would throw in “sweep the crappy teams at home”. If you can average going 2-1 in series in the league (20-10) you have a great team, not just good.

I think all of us would “take” coming out of the weekend 1-2 and playing good ball overall. Georgia and TN appear to be VERY evenly matched from what I saw. Does that mean we’re both potential top 10 teams? Maybe. Time will tell.

The aggravating part is “they let a golden opportunity slip away”. Lack of timely hits & stranding runners, leaving pitchers in too long, free runners and serving up untimely “meatballs”. Even with all that, we’re maybe 5 feet from STILL winning that game (although BVS might say we still get walked off in the bottom of the 9th or extras).

For me, I’m “OK” with the 1-2 result. It’s really what I hoped for with an outside chance of winning the series. I am also extremely pissed at yesterday’s result and the path we took to getting to 1-2 instead of 2-1. Blowing a 5 run lead in baseball is somewhat analogous to blowing a double digit lead in basketball. We kept doing that in basketball. Hopefully, we learned from the mistakes in this one and won’t repeat them.

We have an opportunity to sweep a bad team this weekend in Mizzou (although they did show some fight against Auburn). Get ‘er done!

Re :Keeping the pitchers in too long

To me it's not a "what was E thinking" but does the staff trust the bullpen that little? There isn't a Walsh or Connel waiting to come in
