The Official #19 Tennessee Volunteers @ #8 UGA Bulldogs Series Thread (Fri. 3/13 6PM ET SECN+) (Sat. 3/14 5PM ET SECN) (Sun. 3/15 1PM ET SECN+ )

It’s a shame we’ve got a sincere LSU fan, posting at our forum, with more centered, accurate takes than our own fanbase (drivebys exempted…seperate issue).
Looking at local Knoxville media pundits, they are pretty confused by Elander’s decision in the 7th, too. I’m not sure my take is inaccurate, nor the media’s take either. His take might be more centered because this is not his team, but more accurate? I would disagree, and I’m usually pretty rational, and positive.

It probably has more to do with use of the term “pathetic”. That just seemed extreme to me. The era of the portal has raised the expectation of a nurturing, growth oriented program to an expectation of immediate gratification… possibly, deservedly so.

A bit of revisionist history. Ferguson hit .253 in ‘21 and Beck hit .298 in ‘22. There were a whole lot of guys in that time with bad BA’s and bad OPS. There was just a whole lot of continuity on all phases of the team and this team currently lacks in that. Wright, Brown, Ford, Grimmer and Reese are hitting better than a lot of the guys on previous teams (with the exception of ‘24 which is always gonna be an outlier haha). But I would agree that we are missing something. I think our problem is that the guys that are struggling are giving us literally nothing. In years past, the slumps and struggles were less pronounced. Consistency is probably the biggest thing we are lacking in.

I’ll get off my soapbox.
I think we are missing Vitello’s energy and attitude. It carried over to the players and took them to another level imo. Hopefully Elander will be successful and figure out his own special sauce.

My son’s take… a starting pitcher at JrC level:

“Horrible ****ing pitch coaching.. same ****.. not having pitchers ready to go in. In situations that they need to take them out for.”

🤣🤣🤣🤙🏼🧡🍺

Yeah, this team struggles to put the ball in play when there’s ducks on the pond. So many missed opportunities to put UGA away today. That should’ve been a run rule win if it were simply managed properly. E is fooling himself if he really thought Krenzel was pitching competitively there. Heck, the outcome could’ve been different if he had pulled Blanco sooner as well. Just infuriating.
I was honestly ok with Blanco, he went “off the rails” when the downpour started. If he was pitching in yesterday’s weather he would’ve been cruising.

Tony was here last year and it was one of the most non-emotional, leaderless teams we had in his tenure, save for Liam and Fish.

A lot of positives this weekend , pitching was good less the 7th today , defense was good , offense made some improvements and looked pretty good , I think they have 7 of the 9 figured out , gotta get some contributions from CF and second base to be our best

Children and grandchildren. Fine Christian kids. All playing sports. Don’t appreciate your false judgement.
Well, the one in your avi is thinking. “Put the dadgum camera down, I want my dern blankie!”

The rest are older and likely not as entitled or ill-tempered.

(Seriously, cute kid. 😉.)

Who would you have hired in October?
I don’t keep files on other coaches outside the SEC, however a national search for a proven HC is common (unless you are aTm and you saw how that turned out) for a top 5 program is not too much to ask. Obviously Danny didn’t think it was worth the time. Example: LSU vs aTm
