The Official #10 Auburn @ #12 Tennessee Series Thread (Sat. May 3 11AM EDT) (Sun. May 4 1PM EDT) (Sun. May 4 45 mins after) (All games SECNET+)

Not so sure that is correct. I have seen batters hit a deep ball which has a chance to clear the fence and he just looks T it and jogs toward first base. The ball hit the wall and bounces back on the field and the batter has a single instead of a sue double. There have been balls hit to our left fielder who looks at the ball and decides he is going to play it off the wall instead of going for it at the crack of the bat. I would rather see an error of aggression rather than playing it too safe. I believe we will see more -layers in the portal this year than ever before. I SLO’s believe that will be at least one coaching change. Too many good players are not play as much as they believed they would be playing. We will have to wait and see what happens the rest of the year. I believe we have to Winn both of the last series and make it to the regionals for these changes not to be made.
Wow. Really off base post calling for a coaching change. TN literally has an all-star coaching staff but this is a rebuilding/reloading year since we lost 7 of 9 starters plus our starting rotation and stud closers in Combs and Connell. TN baseball can‘t be elite every year in the era of the transfer portal and parity.

Same! We were sitting there watching lightning strike in every direction around the stadium; then they suspended the game because the mound and pitching were unsafe. 🤣 I'd probably rather get hit with Liam's fastball than by lightning. Depending on where the fastball hits, I guess. But I'm sitting there thinking, "I guess the lightning is more than 8 miles from here; otherwise they would've already run us out of the stadium." It was the weirdest weekend.
The weekend weirdness kind of mirrors things going on the last 4-5 weeks.

I have missed a grand total of 7 innings of baseball at LNS.

It is not a lack of effort.
It’s hard for some to discern what the meaning of “effort” really is. I haven’t missed much but if someone that goes regularly is saying “lack of effort” in a general sense, then they don’t know ball. Period.

Coaching change? You must’ve forgotten the blue font

Missouri is as close to free wins in this conference as I’ve ever seen. Three almost guaranteed wins in a weekend is huge for those schools who had them on their schedule.

Yeah, it's kind of crazy that all four teams (TX, Arky, UGA and LSU) currently ahead of us in the SEC standings all received a free 3-0 weekend pass by playing Mizzou this season.

There should almost be an asterisk next to their records in the standings for playing a historically bad SEC team this season, lol

Only say that an assistant coach may not be back next year. Not even hinting that Coach V is in any way would not be going anywhere and I hope, with all my heart that that would ever happen

I am Not, at all, calling for a coaching change, and certainly not Coach V.

The MVPs of the season thus far are Ensley, Kilen, Bargo, Doyle, Philips, and Loy. Peebles is stepping up as well. I can’t wait to see how the team responds this weekend at home. Let’s hope for some great weather and a loud and supportive LNS crowd!

I had to go back and look for this one…saw it earlier but I had to work. Kinda surprised you didn’t mention Fish. According to the announcers, (watching the replay) he’s been on base in all 49 games. That’s pretty note worthy I reckon.

GBO!!!

Yes, his stats are very good.

I picked us to go 18-12 in the league and we still have a shot at it but losing all the players we did that would an incredible job , I highly doubt there’s another ranked team that’s replaced more starters than we have , I’ll add that we’ve had some really crappy weather at home too , no excuses just speaking the truth

Bargo is growing into a leader and becoming more and more vocal.

That is a very, VERY good thing.
Underrated observation.

Tennessee has been blessed with so many alphas the last couple years that the guys like Bargo haven't had the space to develop into leaders. This team needs that. It is hard to define leaders when all is going well. If this stretch of hardship gives us some vocal leadership that bodes well for us as the postseason looms.

I get it and I hate it. Games together have been mine and my son’s thing since the 2021 season (got them in 2020 and never made a game before Covid). He was 4 that 2021 season and has been my shotgun rider ever since. He’s been on the road to Vandy, OM, State, AU, Bama, Southern Miss, Omaha and Knoxville. I think about the cheap memories we made in the early days of this run and try to treat every sale I make like there’s a dad and his son on the other end and charge no more than I’d be willing to pay (and I’m a cheap ass). It should be an event that damn near anyone can afford to attend and unfortunately it used to be and now it’s not. Not a dad and son sale, but the ladies next to me Sunday were talking about tickets in my section being $220/each for last Friday’s game that’s why they bought Sunday’s for $135/each. I told them I couldn’t make the Sunday Vandy game and they could have my pair for $80 total when they cost me $70/pair. The extra $10 gets me a beer or a couple of cups coffee depending on the temperature lol.
^^^This all day..So cool to hear greed not a part of it...You should be applauded Sir.....

My wife and I would love to go but I can't afford it..Not saying prices too high, just too high for us...I live in Nashville but would GLADLY make the drive for a game..I was fortunate enough to have Basketball tickets given to us from a staffer we know and were VERY fortunate to attend some of those..I'm hoping we can find some next year for Baseball and I have started a Baseball Ticket Account to help with that😁

Most tickets regardless of sport are being priced out of the ordinary fans price range. For us older fans where getting a better paying job isnt an option because of retirement we are left to thankfully being able to watch on tv. But that being said I am so thankful for the way college sports are being televised. The days of just the same few teams to watch are over. You can pretty much follow any school from anywhere. And thats more of a big deal to me than watching in person.

This is not a loaded question, just wondering. What would you be willing to pay for a season ticket package? I'm just wondering what everyone considers too expensive.
Bonus question: What would be realistic to pay for one seat versus Vandy/LSU/Florida?
I've always wondered when people talk about unrealistic prices what that is to them.

BTW, those that talk about a game being too expensive for the trip, it depends on what you do on that trip. Are you just going to watch the game or a mini-vacation. Per se. I went Tuesday left at 4 from Virginia drove to the game, watched a good game, went with son to Calhoun's afterwards (had to wait an hour after the game for him to finish up his stuff so that cost some time), and drove back home. Got up and went to work.
For five years we went to every weekend series and it never cost what some of you say it cost. We stayed in an airbnb for $50 a night, there are many out there in Knoxville and ate reasonably and we still made our house and car payments. I'm not sure I ever spent what including the week in Hoover what some of you say you spend in a weekend in Knoxville.

I think this question depends on a ton of factors, including financial priorities (i.e., how obsessed you are as a fan vs. how obsessed you are with your other hobbies), income level, and amount of other obligations. My husband and I both make good money and don't have kids (i.e., don't have to save for college, weddings, and otherwise pay "kid costs"), so we're likely to throw a lot more money at supporting the BaseVols, who are our "pretend kids." We also live in Knoxville so don't have the associated travel costs (although we do travel to Hoover, Omaha, and 2-3 other away series a year), and we are able to attend almost all of the games (I get that season ticket prices can look really unreasonable when you can't make it to most of the games). For me, UT is a long way from pricing me out of a season ticket package, but I'd probably feel differently if I had kids to feed, educate, shuffle here and there, or if I had added costs of traveling to the games. As for one seat, I don't think the prices the University is charging are unreasonable, but I've definitely raised some eyebrows at secondary market ticket prices for regular-season games that are more than what I paid for tickets to the Omaha championship series last year.

EXACTLY! Leaders rarely grow from good times. You can try to pass it along year to year, but until that friction hits you never really know.

Its why I really don't interact a lot with the live threads and most of the drive by stuff. The team is in a rough patch, but I genuinely believe I'm seeing guys grow into roles that will be extremely positive for the remainder of the season, and especially as a program in 2026. By no means am I already tossing out this year, far from it (I think one good game could adjust the carb to where this thing is humming)...but I'm also downright giddy about what next year could be as well.

I firmly believe 2024 doesn't happen without some of the struggles of 2023 and early in 24.

Taking the midweeks out of the season tix package might open things up a bit. I’d probably pay $25-30 for Belmont next week.

An average of $35-45 ticket is not unreasonable. More for better seats ($50-75), less down the lines ($25-35.) LNS is so close to the field that there aren’t “bad” tickets.

35 or so games? I’d say $1000 - 1800 (depending on seats) on average for season tickets is reasonable for the product and environment.

6300 seats at an average of $1500 is $9.5 million of revenue a year. Just in tickets. Give me an affordable ticket and I am more likely to eat your concessions and buy your jersey.

I’ve paid a lot - but I have the benefit of family and friends in driving distance, so I stay for free. Couldn’t do it if I had to spend for hotel and food for the family.

I’d say anything over $75/ticket is pricing out most “regular” fan families (certainly 4 or more), though I don’t find that unreasonable for a marquee game. Just me? I’d pay $150 for a big game. But, I’d not eat lunch that week. 🧐

I've always wondered when people talk about unrealistic prices what that is to them.

$238 + fees.
