It's more than just a half year difference. It's half a year as an 18 year old with a week to prepare versus a full year and all of the practice time between March and November for a 22 year old with 3 years of game experience. But playing Vescovi now gets something versus nothing if he were to leave early and also the redshirt year is preserved in case of an injury.
We're actually going to have some talent on the roster next season. would be nice to have at least a PG with some experience in the Barnes system. Play the guy.

Vescovi might be backing up James, Bailey, and/or Springer next year at PG. He'll need to be impressive to earn minutes in next year's rotation.

Bailey will have about a year and a half experience in the system by next year.

It sounded like an Arab woman's shrill. They timed it just as the free throw shooter was about to release their shot. Bush league visitor needed their ass kicked.

Bailey hasn't played point since HS. PGs will be Springer and Vescovi. James will play on a wing.

There sure are a bunch of newbies thinking that JJJ was supposed to be Magic Johnson and are now expecting Vescovi to be Steve Nash.

Yep and UROs will replace both Pons and Fulkerson the minute he is cleared. Even though he couldnt get on the floor last year.

By the way I think Uros will be really good after a couple years here. At least he needs to be

Costs half a year, cause he would be playing half of this year, so 3.5 instead of 4. It all depends on just how much they feel he can help, which none of us will likely have knowledge of. If you do go ahead and play him then you at least know to start looking for a replacement a little earlier than maybe you would’ve.
Are you inferring that he could potential play spring of 2020 and still have 3.5 years left? Didn’t realize red shirts could be for semesters only - thought they were only for an entire school year?

Maybe the plan is to redshirt some of this year’s freshmen next season?

No...he would play the remainder of this year and then the next 3, that’s 3.5 seasons.

Anyone notice how significantly improved Fulkerson’s hands are? Last year he was good to bobble at least one great interior pass per game.

This year, can’t think of a single time

He has fumbled a few passes this year. But not as bad as last year. He also tends to get hammered by the opposing bigs and gets no love from the refs.

Yea, he gets a raw deal with getting fouls called and not getting them called on his defender.

Brandon Crump apparently spent considerable time working with him in the offseason.

I’ve also noticed that he’s not as quick to put the ball on the ground and back his defender into the paint every time he gets the ball on the low block. He seems to be getting shots up faster this season.

I think he tries to sell 'em too much. Fulkerson just needs to realize he's a 5 now, acting like guards are blowing him up on screens outside the paint are now "cheap fouls" the refs are more than happy to call him for.

He gets hammered by the other bigs though, it's for sure frustrating. But the best thing he can do is try to cleanup his flopping outside the paint and go after the bigs guarding him harder to force refs to call more fouls.

It would help if he could develop his right hand. When he spins to his right he gets open looks since he gets overplayed on his left hand. But he'll spin right and shoot with his left. Those shots are getting blocked now. Maybe his right elbow and wrist just aren't right. He'd score double digits every game if he also had a right handed hook/half hook shot that complements his left.
