The Official “Regular Posters of the Basketball Forum” Thread

probably already posted somewhere, but this is just genuinely hilarious/insane. All you can do is laugh.

Seems like the minimum of 25 free throw attempts would eliminate a lot of games that potentially would hit these benchmarks. I wonder if there would be more similar performances if you lowered that number

Bingo. People that say we didn’t play with effort are just making lazy analysis cause they don’t know enough to see what actually happened etc..

I’ve never seen a game under Barnes maybe ever, where I thought we played with poor effort.

I don’t think effort was an issue either. I could see the guys playing hard, they just weren’t playing well or playing smart. Some of the issue was also Florida’s defense figuring out our weakness on offense and exposing it better than any team had yet to that point. But effort wasn’t an issue at all.

Nice to see CRB agrees with me. ;) I thought the effort was OK. It just looked like they got down early, heard the crowd, missed a couple of shots and started to panic and lost composure. It was their first SEC game away from home against a very good - final four caliber - team, so I guess that is understandable. The real test is the next game. How they respond will tell us a lot about this team's makeup.

Shot poorly, but the effort was there. People tend to associate bad shooting with effort quite a bit. Play hard even if you don’t play well. Rick Barnes mantra.

I saw the same thing which is what was so troubling frankly...did not expect this team to do that with ZZ, Mashack and Gainey. Not to mention Lanier and Igor never seem to change their demeanor during a game but it was their first real exposure to that kind of game atmosphere and pressure. Still really surprising and disappointing overall but it was just 1 game so let's see how they do Sat.

I was just surprised we were never able to do anything to make the game easier on the offensive end...we have enough experience and talent to know you have to get paint touches and challenge the interior defense and at least get to the free throw line when shots aren't falling from 3.

Exactly. Barnes said as much when he said our frontline got outplayed. These are the type teams that not having Estrella just kills us. It’s going to take some adjustments to beat Florida in Knoxville.

Mashack is currently a 0 on the offensive end and we're consistently playing 5v4 with defenses loading up the paint against us because of it. Love the defense he brings as always, but we really need him to sort out some kind of role on that end. He can't keep driving to 4 feet away from the basket before hesitating and throwing it back out beyond the 3 point line.
I think his finger is a bigger deal than is being let on. I watched video and it looked broken to me.
