I can't be the first one to head that way, can I? My plane leaves in the morning. A few days in the mountains, and then back to the Bay Area for several days of beveraging surrounding the game.

Hope to see some of you folks out there, possibly at Lefty O'Doul's a week from tonight.

I hope so. I thought it was a long and expensive trip just for a football game, but not if we made a whole week out of it and went backpacking for a few days first. I figured other people would also make a long trip out of it, so I was surprised nobody had started the headed-out-to-California thread yet.

I'm relying on you to do well by the Braves while I'm gone. I'm going to be pissed on Thursday if I come out of the mountains, buy a newspaper, and see that the Braves are 10 games out.

I'm starting to think in terms of catching a late-week flight and scalping it all the way...Hotwire, here I come...who knows?

You will be able to find a game ticket rather easily.

No doubt---if you go or for anyone going it is worth it to rent a wrangler and drive up the coast and into sonoma/napa north of frisco--you will not regret this decision. :good!: If you drink at the winery try to eat too it sneaks up on you when you are drinking so much with so little time.

I thought about going last minute too and might still but my buddy is relying on me to be here and party with him and our friends in his drive-way. Kinda a so-so tailgate 2600 miles away.

Go Vols......via long distance.

I was talking to a few guys at the office today about just muscling up and flying out to Cal next weekend. We figured that you could probably decide last minute and still pay about $750 round trip, including the game ticket. The flight would, of course, be the most expensive part of the trip, then the hotel of $100/night, then the game ticket which is going for $9.99.

On Hotwire, I've found a roundtrip crop-duster for 1 person @ $394, leaving from Richmond on Thursday and returning on Sunday; a 3 star hotel for a total of $200 (3 nites), and it looks like a decent game ticket could be procured for $50 tops. On my po-man's budget, that leaves about $350 for food, drink and transportation. This might be do-able! Still drummin' it around... Of course, I'd have to find a warm body to fill in for me @ work, but I got a little clout & magic up my orange sleeve...

that's good to hear..if this works out, I'm buyin' your first Smirnoff Clearly Orange Martini next Friday nite...and apologizing for harsh comments made in a previous thread...:peace2:
You owe me absolutely no apology. Stating one's opinion is what this board is all about.

:salute:

I envy you guys. I would have considered going, but had already promised to take my wife to Saddlebrook Tennis Academy in Wesley Chapel, Fl. for a grueling week in the hot sun.

Stay safe. Something tells me that a Vol win is coming and this may be a better than expected season for us.
