1) We allow Clawson to coach the rest of the season. After which we bring in Chip Kelly from Oregon to run the offense. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

2) We also let Stan Drayton go, if Creer is not starting I question his judgment and he has not been the great recruiter we thought he would be. We replace him with Chris Beatty (WVU RB Coach). The guy is a big time recruiter out of Va., just ask Beamer. Look at his target and see how many of them match ours.

3) We bring in Ed Orgeron (Ex Ole Miss Coach). The guy is a great position coach and motivator and could be the heir to the DC job. Oh buy the way; he is a big time recruiter especially out of Bayou.

4) We bring Al Wilson to coach the LB's which will give Chavis more time to game plan. Just Imagine.

5) We hire Billy Napier away from Clemson and give him the recruiter title and TE coach. Pay him what he wants, he is worth every penny.

So what does that give us.
1. Tajh Boyd - 5* QB (He is a big Chip Kelly fan and Chris Beatty got his commitment to WVU)
2. More Explosive Offense (1 TD more a game would have us 4-1 and in the top 20.
3. It allows us to cherry pick 4* and 5* players out of Va. Look at the amount of talent in that state.
4. With the addition of Oregron as DL coach, we strengthen our recruiting in La. and Miss. Plus you get a better DL coach.
5. With the addition of Napier, you now have the #1 recruiter in the country, which will raise the talent level.
6. It also gives us a succession plan for Fulmer. In a few years, we either hand the job to Chip Kelly or we or we go outside but it will be on our schedule.

I believe by taking these steps, we will be able to return the talent level of the overall team back to where it was at in the 1997 to 2002 time period. We will also address the ineffectiveness of our offense. The addition of Chip Kelly would be amazing. Look at Oregon’s offense this year. They are ranked in the top 10 in scoring even though they are on their fourth starting QB. You introduce Al Wilson back into the program and watch the D play with increase emotion. You establish a link between the years we dominated the SEC and today. These moves would put Tennessee back at the head of the table and a bright future, all with any eye to the future to ensure continued success. The cost of this would be approximately:

Chip Kelly $750,000
Chris Beatty $500,000
Ed Oregron $400,000
Al Wilson $250,000
Bill Napier $600,000
Total $2,000,000 *** Does not include saving of releasing Dave Clawson, Stan Drayton, and Jason Michaels

We have two of the top twelve recruits in the state of Virginia committed to us without Chris Beatty. We've never really had a problem getting talent from that state if my memory serves me correctly.

$250,000 for Al Wilson to be LB coach?

$600,000? $400,000? For position coaches??

Where is the special teams help? Who is going to bring that to the table?

If you don't cut the head off the snake you still have a snake. So long as Fulmer is there to meddle and assign playing time and dole out coaching bonuses on the old seniority system nothing will change. Anyone who thinks Clawson is running the offense he wants to run and starting the guys he wants to start is delusional.

Clawson...you want to fire him after 5 games, with maybe 25% of his offense installed, with players he didn't pick, and with poor QB play holding back the whole show. More, you want to fire him and buy out his contract, and somehow convince a guy to travel cross-country to a job and convince him we won't fire him extremely prematurely, too?

Stan Drayton...you're judging his recruiting ability in his first year, and a full 4 months before signing day. More, you're pretending that Creer is somehow a more complete back and never fumbles...I think he's got about as many as Foster in 10% as many carries.

Crazy Ed...I doubt he's really excited about going from coaching to being a position coach with maybe sorta kinda the possibility of being the defensive coordinator.

Al Wilson...can he even coach? How would we get better LB play from a group that normally plays very well? I doubt Chavis is losing out on too much planning because he coaches the LBs.

Then 600,000 for a title and coaching 3 guys?

Then you make a bunch of wild assertions about recruiting.

You want to hire a bunch of guys and give them the keys to our team for years to come based on doing nothing at all for Tennessee, yet you're ready to fire our new coaches based on a few games where a QB held us back.

If we were 4-1 but had only scored 6 more points, would you be complaining? Or would you be ready to hand the keys over to Clawson and proclaim Drayton Emperor of All Things Running?

great concept to hire the best assistants.........only one problem, UT is CHEAP, that's why they make alot of bad hires...........they don't want to pay the big bucks......Sabo make 2x as much as Fulmer, Pearl is grossly underpaid as well.......Otherwise, I think it's a great plan......
