Is it reasonable to debate that this year's in-state infantry is as talented and deep as any that have landed in Knoxville? Assuming we nab Malone's and Mosley's verbal commitments, it's certainly up for discussion.

Most talent in this state as I can recall.

Good thing is that the hs football in mid tn area has more talent than it ever has, more schools and kids playing, and the population here continues to grow at a rapid pace.

That is only part of the reason. What has improved the in-state pool is an increase in youth leagues throughout the state. That has steadily improved play in all divisions of the TSSAA over the past ten years. Before, a good deal of players didn't start playing until middle school or high school. Of course, the population growth made some of those youth leagues possible.

That's why we need to start winning and put vandy back in their place

You would think a state like Tennessee would produce good talent. If states like Mississippi and Alabama can, Tennessee surely can. Eventually, Tennessee will produce an abundant supply of blue chippers and then we'll be able to pick guys from our state, much like LSU does in Louisiana. I can only hope that our state will one day become a huge talent pool in the next decade.

Were getting there. I have to admit the last 5 yrs has been the best for TN talent in a long time

I think last year was better. we had 3 instate 5 stars in herron, ramsey and bell. would have loved to have seen what butch could have done with a whole year to recruit those guys. we also had a couple really good rbs out west too right? Didnt one of them go to ole miss or auburn?

Jordan Wilkins signed with OM and Jovon Robinson with Auburn (but was declared ineligible).

Last year was top heavy, but this year and the next seem deeper overall.

***Edited for accuracy.

Its a matter of demographics. Those states have a much higher percentage of African Americans which translates into a lot more elite players.

seems like many more teams have D1 players to watch. Independence, Brentwood, Beech, Station Camp, Wilson Central, Blackman, Siegal, Riverdale, Oakland, Smyrna, Ensworth, BA, Franklin, Hillsboro, CPA, MBA, Ravenwood, Maury cnty, Gallatin area, Clarksville...

Seems like just a few schools used to have some good players, but some of the schools that weren't even around a few years ago now have multiple D1 players. Hell, Beech and Station Camp have possibly 2 5stars and I don't recall a recruit from there prior. More to come. Malone's cousin is a stud.

The talent level is getting better all over the state.
Even in West Tennessee and I'm not talking just about Memphis.
GO VOLS!

Walton. And Mark Dodson also signed with OM. I agree that there is more depth these next two years. There are 12-13 TN players alone in the ESPN 300 for 2015.

Kelly, Hurd, Gaulden, Malone are four impact/can't miss players IMO. That is actually saying a lot.
