I saw this gem on Catspause when glancing around to see what they were saying about the game. This is how important UK fans think the Streak is to our program.

You know as well as I that the streak is one of the biggest accomplishments the program has and is taught to every player. It would be equivalent to a Bama frosh not knowing about the AU rivalry.

Sorry UK, unfortunately the streak is not much of an accomplishment. It's not our fault you ran the Bear off.

Yeah right. I certainly would love for the streak to continue, but if it ended Saturday, I would wake Sunday a Vols fan, and they would still be a UK fan--Need I say more?

I love that they think we are big rivals...actually most UT fans couldn't give two ****s about Kensucky. They play second fiddle to UF and Bama when it comes to rivalries.

Also Georgia, South Carolina and I would even put Vandy slightly ahead of them.

The only rival ky has is with their basketball program. They want their fans to be as crazy about the fball program just as they are about the basketball program.

I know right? Its only this yr we are SLIGHTLY worried about them. As if winning NC's and SECC aint as big as THE STREAK

And just think, they could have had Pat Summitt for the cost of moving...how sad:yes:

Spend just a little time in Lexington as a UT fan and you will understand how big this game is to them. They don't point to Florida or Alabama in football every year as the game to win. They badly want to beat us.

I did not realize how long the streak had been until I had some people in Kentucky as a customer for my company. I walked through their state office and was heckled once it was known I was from Tennessee. Kentucky is a game that I want UT to win. It does not come close to defining the season for me as a UT fan.

Before I lived in KY I never considered them a rival. In a rivalry both teams need to get some wins, the occasional upset that ruins your season, etc. However, now that I work with all these UK fans I want to win mostly because I don't want to hear the annoying trash talk after the game.

I understand the pain for them though as we had a thread the other day talking about how some have not had a loss to KY in their lifetime they could make the same thread for how many of their fans have never seen KY beat TN. But that is their problem not mine :D

This! There is a reason that the Kentucky game is at the end of the season, normally on Thanksgiving weekend, the students really don't see it as that important of a game. Now the UT-KY basketball game has always been key. ..:salute:

What alot of Tennessee fans dont understand is... There are alot of football fans in this state.. It is not just a basketball school, they are very passionate and smart in regards to football.. They have come so close to beating us over the years.. Last year was to close for comfort for me.... Go Vols stop cobb and the cats saturday!!!!

Some years it's been about keeping the streak alive(good years...something to play for other than a beer barrel). This year it's about becoming bowl eligible and getting additional practice time...plain and simple.

One of the funniest quotes I've seen. Comparing the importance UT puts on UK to the importance Bama puts on Auburn is insanity.

Didn't they just interview Justin Hunter and he didn't know about the streak?
