Gary Pinkel was talking about how he's lost so many players over the last couple years and how he's having to make adjustments, and make some changes and work with them. He's only got 6 guys returning on offense this season.

Then you have Maty Mauk do an interview, and he doesn't really have a lot of great things to say. He highlights having to work with a handful of new receivers.

Then you have the media which has a general consensus that Mizzou's chances this year are simply up in the air and unlike the previous two years nobody is really picking them to win the east this year. So there are not a lot of good things coming out of the Mizzou program preseason.

This does not mean I think we're a shoe in for a win against Mizzou by any means but the lack of confidence across the board is something to take notice of at the very least.

Sounds like Butch has been tutoring GP! :)

Mizzou has never received the respect that is owed to them. A few analysts/writers may have picked them to win the East last season but no one predicted them to win in 2013. I hope we aren't too banged up by the time they roll around on our schedule.

The bad news is that the Missouri team we'll see in late November isn't the same one on the practice field in mid August.

I don't believe they have ever been the pick to win the east. I might be mistaken but I don't think so.

They're an after thought for me. We should have continued to manhandle them in the 2nd half in their inaugural season, but Dooley.

We will have the series lead soon enough, and they're not important in the grand scheme of our program goals going forward.

Times up for them. They aren't recruiting good enough and their streak of DE's is over, plus the major holes at WR. Vols will roll in this one.

It's hard to deny, though, that Gary Pinkel has been producing stellar NFL talent with basically unheralded talent. Regardless of where they're picked to finish, Pinkel is one heck of a coach and his teams always seem to win games they shouldn't.

And lose them too, of course. Think Indiana.

But still. I don't think Mizzou ends up a perennial bottom feeder. I think they stay in the mix.

I hate Mizzou with a passion. I cannot believe their little program have beaten us 3 straight years. I'll be so glad when we return back to the top of the East and beat the h3ll out of them. They have really gotten cocky these past couple of years. The first year in our league they were just humble to be in the SEC. Now they think they belong at the top with the best in the SEC. Their recruiting sucks, their stadium reminds me of an FCS stadium; yet their fans think they belong with the big boys of the SEC. Your times a coming Mizzou! You're making fun of UT now on your message boards. Enjoy it now because IT'S GON GIT REAL! WE GON WOP DEY AZZ!

Should have been fired in the locker room after the KY Loss

I don't know which hurt worse, that or the loss to LSU. I think LSU, just because I was still optimistic we had a good team. Either way, Dooley caused m too much pain in his 3 years. Way too many bad losses due to bad coaching.

He had a GREAT DC that has moved on that had been there for awhile. I seriously doubt we'll see any thing close to the defenses Mizzou has had this year.

That's how bad the east has been. Georgia blew the east division last year. They did beat Mizzou 34-0 (your division champs)

I totally disagree that Mizzou will be bottom-feeding in the SEC.

1. UK and Vandy still play in the SEC, and

2. Pinkel is actually a good coach IMO. He has been fortunate to catch the East in a down period, but he knows how to develop players and get the most out of them on Saturdays.

Pretty sure nobody really was either of those years, though.
