Tonight, I had a 7 P.M. flight from NYC to Las Vegas. Normally, I'm like a kid at Christmas as I travel to the Jewel of the Desert. Tonight, however, I was depressed. I knew I would miss the Vols v. UK. Imagine my surprise when I found out that Jet Blue, which I had never flown before, has DirecTV service. You can't beat watching the Vols take out the Cats at 34,000 feet.

Nice, but I would have been weary of flying on "Jet Blue" the night of the Kentucky game. It could have been a bad omen.

That is awsome...
It wouldn't have been much fun if the Vols hadn't come through. I especially enjoyed watching Duke-Carolina with the UT score creeping along the bottom of the screen all night.

Good point. However, I think the power of the Orange Jacket overrode all else tonight.

Good point. They just did an entire segment on that jacket on ESPN.

Imagine how bad UK and Vandy fans are going to hate that jacket in about three years.

We can only hope. That AND Rocky Top might be too much for many of them to handle.

Come on hatvol. you had no faith in this team winning at Rupp. You said they would lose in a defensive struggle. Now do you believe that we have a good team instead of a lucky team?

Hatvol also said that Morris wasn't any good, and we wouldn't have any trouble with him... UK's leading scorer and rebounder. He gave us fits under the basket all night, just like I said.

Again, a distortion of the facts. I never said we wouldn't struggle with Morris. I simply stated that we had played against several big guys who were better. Given that a New York Post poll of NBA GMs last week had LaMarcus Aldridge, Tyrus Thomas, and Shawne Williams all projected as lottery picks, I'll stand by that statement. The fact we can't stop a post player doesn't make him anything special. I believe I'll take Jerry West and Donnie Walsh over you when it comes to talent evaluation.

And you said Kentucky had no defense. How many points under their average did UT score? That was with 4-6 points tacked on with late free throws. Do you expect me to enjoy the win any less because I didn't predict it? My ego is huge, its not that big. Do I think the Vols are a top 10 team? No. I've seen 40 different teams play live this year and I think at least 12 of them would beat UT on a neutral court. LSU is one of the teams on that list and they've already beaten the Vols handily. Memphis, too. That said, this team continues to improve and prove me wrong. I hope they keep doing it.

hatvol, the only thing I might add to that is the pro scouts are scouting potential a lot of times. It doesn't "necesarily" mean that their best prospect is currently the best college player.

I haven't seen Thomas play more than a couple of time but he still needs a lot of work on his basketball skills imo. His athleticism and instints are unreal though.

Actually hit a pretty good score on Washington -13' against USC. Had to sweat it out, UW let a 27 point lead get cut to 9 before winning by 14. Haven't had time to hit the tables yet. I'll do that tonight and tomorrow. I actually live in New York. I'll be moving into a new apartment in Forest Hills at the beginning of March.
