The mental gymnastics it takes to be a Negavol

I have mostly seen folks questioning whether or not is was a good idea to bring a first time head coach into our program at it's current state. I have only seen a very few even mention firing him. Most are just tired of waiting till next year.

I'm looking at the Tennessee fan reaction to the game today and it is cringeworthy. The sky is now falling because Tennessee had an off game today. I am seeing Volnation collectively concede the last three games on the schedule. People act as if one game will define this season. Have people already forgotten that the sky was falling when Tennessee got blown out by West Virginia and Florida? Guess what? The Vols have competed with every SEC team ,except Alabama, since that awful loss to Florida. Tennessee managed to knock off Auburn (who is looking good right now after a win over A&M) and almost beat South Carolina. If you look at Tennessee's overall body of work and our common opponents for the last three teams we play, there is no reason to believe we can't beat all three of them. If you really think there's no chance we can win these games and go bowling, you are being irrational and you are more committed to your negative narrative about this season than you are to facts and logic.

There are some neighborhood kids on your lawn. You just gonna take that?!? Buncha no good hoodlums.

An off day? One game?

Hmmm maybe I've been watching the wrong temple alm year because outside of one game the team I've watched has been unprepared at the beginning of the game with very little successful adjustments during the games.

If you're honest you cant believe we have a prayer with Mizzou or Kentucky. Vandy is a possible but unlikely win.

I think it’s safe to say we’re ALL tired of waiting until next year. It sucks.

Ooh look what I found-a soapbox!

I think what I’m guessing 97% of passionate VNers keep forgetting is that it is 2018. The Vols have not been relevant for over a decade. We live in the golden age information and entertainment in that entire world, for the vast majority of ppl, is literally at your fingertips. For the love of Peyton, change the channel! You don’t owe VN any explanation and in the history of the internet no poster has ever sincerely replied “you’ve convinced me to change my mind”. To argue that Vols deserve better is an old man football mentality that just doesn’t align with the current state of SEC football. Grab a glass of water and just swallow that big pill.

And you know what? The Vols are going to be fine. Most HS recruits today know that msg boards are full of trolls so they don’t let that effect their recruitment process. In other words, they don’t give a crap about what we say. They can ignore you. Heck, VN posters can ignore you. I think the key to making it is a little harmless trolling of your own. You gotta learn to laugh thru the pain if you’re gonna survive.

Rant over. Carry on.

Tennessee is not going to win all of the next three games. They are not. That’s not being “negative”. That’s coming to a logical conclusion because I have a functioning brain.

They could win 1 of the next 3.
It is unlikely, but they could will win 2 of the next 3.
They will not win out.

So far this season, the “negavols” have been right in every game, except one.

For the season:

Logic: 8-1

I think people I’ve seen say we have no chance added “if we play like we did today” to it.

ESPN has us projected to lose the last three, so it’s not outrageous. But can we win if we play better? Absolutely. Let’s hope that starts Saturday. I’d love to see us knock off Kentucky.

ESPN thinks 1/2 the Tennessee fan base lives in trailers and they are wrong, but I don't know the true numbers:)

Yeah, QB has issues....the 5 lousy OLinemen that Will Friend puts in front of him each week who act like turnstiles.
Funny, you were blaming the worst defense in the country in another thread. JG is not a good enough QB to make up for what this team is lacking. Let me ask you this and be 100% honest, if you swapped say Joe Borrow at LSU and JG what would the records be?

Mostly I’m tired of waiting for next year because I know exactly what I’ll hear next year and it’s “ wait until next year.” Been waiting for next year for 10 damn years.

It begs to question, how long do Curse's last, are they forever?

What I want to know is how Chryst played against Bama without any sacks or interceptions with our O line. I didnt get to watch much of the game. Either the O line is that really inconsistent or JG can't adjust the line to what he sees on the defense or maybe a little both.

A guy who goes by "Longsufferingvol" feels the need to start a thread criticizing fans that are tired of a decade of crap. Jesus, take the wheel!

Tennessee had an off game today? TODAY?! Dude, we've had an off MILLENNIUM.
