The meltdown that is happening on the Vandy message boards

Playing 80 players per game suggests that Mason is either clueless as to which guys are capable of contributing or the entire roster is so bad that there's not much difference between starters and scout team guys.

Imagine how bad a 4th or 5th string guy at Vandy must be. And Mason is saying he's going to trot those guys out onto the field on a regular basis.

On the contrary, all VU players are diamonds in the rough future Jordan Matthews and Jay Cutler's so why not play 80 different players? Makes perfect sense.

heard on the radio here the other day, I can get season tickets for Candy for only $135 bucks....lol

I wonder if they would still sell me a pair if I walked into their ticket office in UT gear? I'm thinking about doing that just to help keep their stadium a little more empty (like they need help with that tho...) and also so I can have the pleasure of having a ticket burning party every Saturday.

No, I think the guy is legitimately one of the least intelligent coaches in CFB, which is quite humorous considering Vandy's perceived greatness in that facet.

The truth is he's an above-average DC who managed not to ruin a defense that was already in place when he took over.

and that defense was loaded with players at Stanford. Way different than the players he has at VU. Outside of a few good LBs at VU there is zero depth and minimal talent on that roster. The guy is a good DC and a joke of a HC.

See, that's kind of what I was thinking. I mean, David Shaw isn't an idiot and wouldn't have put him in that DC position if he wasn't capable. He may be a better coordinator, but a head coach his is not I understand. But making statements like he is almost so over the top it begs the question if it's intentional and he's looking for a payday before heading back to be a DC somewhere.

there was high 3, 4 star and 5 star players all over Stanfords defense during those few years. They had/have studs.

I guess it's possible, but I think it's more he's legit over his head.

If you rank head coaches in the SEC, I'm pretty sure Mason ranks at the bottom. Actually if you rank the all time worst coaches in the SEC Mason would rank just behind Dooley.

im seeing anywhere from -1 to -2 and i love it.

i remember last yr i was listening to 3HL on my drive home on the thursday afternoon of the temple/vandy opener. They were watching the betting line as they were doing the show and it fell something like 10pts throughout the show. It ended up being a pretty close line. Everyone on air was wondering what was going on and then Vandy ultimately ended up getting smoked.
