Tony B is interviewing a Dallas media guy, who is stating matter of factly that Gary Patterson W-A-N-T-E-D....the job. Interviewed for the job. But was rebuffed by Mike Hamilton, saying that he was going with Kiffin, instead. And added the insult, that he (Patterson) was too much like Phil Fulmer. That cheesed Patterson off, cause he really respected Fulmer and his accomplishments.

Thanks Hamilton. Thanks. Your curse just lasts and lasts.

Fulmer is more respected in the coaching circles than some fans realize.

Hamilton had no business on commenting on Fulmer to anyone he was interviewing.

Kiffin was an atomic bomb to the UT football program. He ran most of the offensive line off and his recruiting class did not pan out.

Didn't Sumlin want it after Kiffin left? I've heard that Hammy turned him down because O'dools was more organized.

He is respected by most for his accomplishments, not for the end of his tenure. There is a reason why he hasn't landed another coaching job.

That's right, but I recall much of the same sentiment during Kiffin's hiring. We were lucky cause no one would want the job after us firing a coach with as much success as Fulmer had.

The guy in the interview said Patterson was still interested the last time around, when Dooley was considered, but his price went up considerably....because of Hamilton's insult.

You're sure right about that my friend.

We also have to keep in mind that many of our Juniors ARE a laMe kiffScum recruiting class.

CDD only had 2 WEEKS before National Signing Day to try and hold that KiffScum class together and to try and add some good players to that class which he did a pretty good job of despite only having 2 weeks to recruit and to try and put a coaching staff together.

Try to recruit a kid to come to Tennessee when you can't even tell the kid who his position coach will be or what the qualifications are of his position coach.

That's an almost impossible task but CDD did pretty well despite such a short time and facing NCAA investigations.

I think the NCAA would have come down on us alot harder if CDD hadn't handled things the way he did.

VFL...GBO!!!

people wanted the job the year we hired Kiffin. A lot of people didn't want to clean up Fulmer/Kiffin's mess when we hired DD

i heard that sumlin was next on the list if CDD passed.
Sumlin was one of the last few being considered, along with Cutcliffe and Dooley. Hamilton chose Dooley based on the "NAME." He felt Sumlin was too unknown, and that he could sell Dooley based on his name and previous experience with Saban.

Problem with letting a numbers cruncher make that decision, is that his logic is utterly flawed. Tennessee needed the most QUALIFIED coach...not the most recognizable name. Sumlin fit the criteria better than the others remaining on the list.

I can't see how Tennessee Football turns around in the next decade with what is transpiring.

Yeah, with an AD who keeps himself locked away in his ivory tower... sitting with Jimmy the Cheek under the Cone of Silence, maintaining total Control.
