Anyone else agree that this is actually kind of awesome starting after Labor Day and with conference foe?

Imagine for a second that we didn’t have some half-@$$ed capacity restrictions and opened our season next year in beautiful Fall weather playing South Carolina in a full Neyland Stadium. Just imagine the energy.

I may be in the minority with this, but I think the conference game schedule with a larger playoff at the end is what should happen moving forward.

Football should definitely start in mid-September. Nobody likes to play or attend games when it's 94*.
Lower section of Neyland does get pretty warm in late August/early September.. 🥵

I like the later start. I want more games though. Even if its a cupcake. How many times at the end of the year do they bring up Kent St. when they talk about Bama or bring up the Citadel when they talk about Clemson being undefeated? Look at who Clemson plays in conference. The whole idea of tougher schedules is for ratings.

All that matters is the record. If you have 2 losses to # 1 and #2 then you're a 2 loss team, even though you may be the third best team in the nation.

There’s nothing to be gained from playing them. The school spends money, ideally for a win, that’s typically extremely boring by the 2nd quarter.

Or they beat you lol
Don't watch. I enjoy every down.

I agree. Love the wether right now, it’s the best time to play football. August to early September can be pretty miserable. I do enjoy playing out of conference games though, but having a season like this is pretty cool.

Going forward, the SEC will protect it's brand.
The big TV contracts are too lucrative to be ignored.
There is no market share advantage for the networks to tout to advertisers in Alabama v UTC type games.

Totally disagree, I like having 4 non conference games, gives more variety.

This is fun and different this year, but I'd hate it as a regular thing.

There is some logic and truth to that, but as I get older I don't like attending a game against Vandy or Kentucky when it's 30* either. I won't even tee off anymore unless it's a minimum of 44* and prefer at least 50*. Give me summer weather over winter weather for sports action anyday.
