They said he will be on Letterman apologizing tonight. Yeah his career is probably done.

Yeah, he definitely went WAAAAY too far, and in a public instance no less.

That said, if those guys can dish it, they should be able to take it.

Well, there goes the Seinfeld reunion episode...

Come on, this guys career was over in 1998. He will also continue to play to comedy houses across the nation, once this blows over. Unfortunately for Richards, he just lost the chance to be the host of some new gameshow like 1 vs. 100 or Deal or No Deal...

He just pretty much guaranteed his highest level of future celebrity will be on VH-1.

Adult comedy clubs are obnoxious to begin with...is there such a thing as being out of line as a performer? Why is it ok for Chris Rock to call white people crackers, chicken lips, etc... and everyone thinks it's funny...but Kramer gets burned at the stake for saying "n"? And why should we even have to type "n" instead of just typing the word? Way too much sensitivity... If you get drunk and take on a comic in a club, then prepare to be hammered by him...that's his job. The other option is just don't go to the club.

Are you seriously posing that question J. Quest? It was a stupid, thoughtless, and rash outbreak by Richards.

Sure it was, but I have personally witnessed much worse. Two guys on the front row got drunk and took on a washed up comic. Do they cross the line at these clubs? Sure they do. But I guess I just assume everyone knows that.

I agree with JQ's premise that racial sensitivity in the USA is a one-way street. In the PC world it's okay for anyone to insult white heterosexual men, but it is racism/sexism/gay bashing for white heterosexual men to insult anyone else. IMO Richards is a boob who was typecast long ago and he will never be anything more than Kramer. Right now he's getting more media attention than he has in close to a decade and as they say in LA-LA Land, "any press is good press".

What happened? I kept hearing people talk about it today but never made out what happened?

Jerry Seinfeld came out as a guest and then they linked up via satellite with Michael Richards who apologized for his tirade. His apology seemed heartfelt and well thought out except for the part where he said "The thing is, I'm not racist."

I'm sorry, but to flat out say "I'm not racist" is an insult to the intelligence of anybody who saw the footage. By definition, you can't say that sort of stuff without being racist. It wasn't like it was a casual slip of the tongue.

Was Rocky Top asking what happened or what happened on Late Nite?
