First and foremost I want to say that I wish the best for Lane Kiffin and that he will be extremely successful but what has gone on so far is nothing short of embarrassing. Everyone is acting as though this off season program is something special and that will put us over the top of other schools but I dont think people know that by us implementing this program we are simply becoming equal to all the other elite teams. We were just long overdue for a program like this, that other programs have been running for years. I've got a couple good friend that plays for Carson-Newman and they have been running a similar morning conditioning program for the past 8-10 years. So this is nothing new we are simply just catching up and running similar programs. Conditioning IMO is more about making guys tougher and making players come together as a team then actually improving play on the field as football players dont need to be able to run a marathon they just need to get able to go full speed for 10 second bursts the whole night with breaks in between. It is good though that Kiffen is catching us up and that is his goal, I'm just simply saying the off season morning runs will not be what puts us back where we need to be, that will be on the practice field. Ed Orgeron ran a similar off season program recruited well and was intense and passionate and that led to not many wins so there is alot more to winning than just recruiting and a hard off season program. Lane Kiffin so far off the field of play so far has done nothing but replace the early vision of an enthusiastic young coach to a cocky arrogant young coach who has really yet to do anything for himself. He needs to do something very simple just shut up and coach and let the team do the talking on Saturdays. I think this offense will struggle again year one but we will see how much of a coach we do have years 3 & 4 when we have a team of almost all Kiffin boys. Thats when you see how good a coach really is. In conclusion I hope we get some wins this season and he takes us to the top but he needs to quit being an embarrassment until he has done anything worth noting.
