Dont know how the rest of this game will go but the call to go for it on 4th right there instead of take the easy 3, is the difference between Butch and the potentially great coach we have. Pruitt was willing to put it all on the line - HIS VERY FIRST POINTS AS A HC. That is astounding. It also shows his confidence in the team and I will bet you they will love the crap out of him for it.

If things continue to improve like I hope they do, that play right there will be the canary that lights the way out of the deep coal mine we have been in. I hope we just watched the birth of the Pruitt Dynasty at UT

Defense looks lost. O line is not improved. Game is exactly opposite of what I thought considering run game and their D. If our defense can wake up. We'll be ok

Yes these are hard calls just st glad Pruitt has the balls to think about them even.. where as the last regime didn’t. But this is the first half of season!! GO VOLS!!

Their nose tackle was gobbling us up for three series. The toss plays and throwing on first down has shifted their approach. Jones would have never thought to change what he was doing. If we can get a couple more drives like the 17 play TD drive then we can do exactly what we need to.
The zone coverage has been really bad and man coverage almost got burned twice. Time to see what half-time adjustments we make.

Butch's chart wouldn't allow him to go for it! Thank GOD him and his chart are gone!

Defense forced 2 FG's and 2 punts against what some are saying the best O in the country in their first game while transitioning to a new scheme..

I was afraid we'd run it and get stuffed. They must have seen something, and capitolized on the play action TD. I would have kicked the FG, but good call.

Not to me. WE HAVE TO BE AGGRESSIVE. Had the play failed, they get the ball on the 2 and maybe we get it right back. I never want to see us take the 3 unless it was for the win.

Disagree.

I think the defense looks good. They are physical at the line of scrimmage.

When you play freshmen in the secondary, some miscommunication should be expected in week 1.

They are ok for 3 freshman and guys knocking rust off. But the win hinges on them. They have to step up. Corners getting burnt. If not for the pressure from line, WV is up 3 more tds. LBs looking lost half the time too

The other thing I've noticed is we aren't a very deep team talent wise in some areas but these guys look better coached and we seem to play with a purpose of truly developing some personality.

I had no idea what Jones was ever trying to do as coach.

Defense and the OL both got better as the first half went along. We may not win this game, but I still feel good about my 7-5 prediction

What is hype. That's what they did. We can improve but considering all, the D has played alright. They bowed up twice when it was needed. Not bad imo with a new scheme and typing CB's against s high octane O
