The commentators on Around The Horn and Pardon The Interruption Tuesday mercilessly ripped Bruce Pearl for the loss to Indy, asserting that the poor showing was a by-product of the distractions posed by all of BP's problems. With continued bad press, these violations, while seemingly minor, get worse and worse and UT keeps its black eye that won't go away. Does anybody know when the NCAA is going to rule on Pearl's recruiting violations? God, we need to get this behind us. A decisive win against Chattanooga will do wonders. How tough is Chattanooga going to be?

Who cares what them dudes think

Just the millions of viewers all over the world.....:)

Of course this is the position that these sports guys are going to take. It's an easy position to take and it makes for good news. There's also an element of truth to it -- can you honestly say that the off-season drama has had ZERO affect on this team and therefore on this team's play so far?

This isn't the media dumping on UT or BP. The media will take the same position if Auburn loses a game this year in football -- "the off-field distractions were just too much for Cam Newton", "Auburn finally crumbles under the weight of the Cam Newton investigation", etc., etc. even if the fact remains that Auburn just had a bad day, or the ball didn't bounce in their favor, or it's just damn hard to win every game.

I think I read that the rulings would be handed down by November....Did you really expect anything other rhan total bashing everytime this team has a loss this year. The media will have a field day with this, and by all rights they should. Just hope CBP has learned a lesson.

Good. They deserve to get ripped for that performance. Hopefully it burns them up so bad that they come out on fire to start the season and destroy some folks.

Tony and Mike love Bruce Pearl, but this is the obvious unbiased position to take.

They are just saying that this is going to get worse before it gets better...which is true unless Bruce can get this team playing really well.

Syracuse got beat last year during preseason and they said that it wasn't a big deal. I guess if your Tennessee your held under the microscope like ants.

We deserve all the criticism we are getting right now re the loss to Indy. They are D2 and it's pitiful. Now, let's put it behind us as a wake up call and go out and show them that it was a fluke.

They were going to blame our first loss on that regardless. It's not why we lost, we lost because the team played poor basketball. Around the Horn and PTI are probably the worst shows on ESPN right behind Jim Rome of course.

These guys do not report the news for ESPN during their shows they give their opinions on it. Same goes for their columns, it almost like getting your news from Rush Limbaugh or John Stewart, its just their opinions. What were they supposed to say, "great job for getting them prepared Bruce, up next is power house UTC"

It's kind of funny some are saying "who cares what these guys think" when the PTI guys specifically have been big Pearl fans and he's been on their show many times, and some of you getting mad are probably the same ones who have posted "Pearl on PTI!" before.

lol i hate this show but they have been one of the few on the Pearl bandwagon. Let the man take his lumps. You had to expect it coming after the embarrasing performace they put on. But as for the predictions, I think UT wins big in the opener.

It would have been nice if they'd mentioned on PTI that the game was an exhibition. Kornheiser and Wilbon sure gave off the strong impression that they thought it was the first real game of the year. Not that it matters that much in terms of the points they were arguing, but it seems like an important detail to leave out.

Of course it's "just their opinions"; it's an opinion show, not a news show. It's not billed as a news show. Same thing goes for their columns -- you understand the difference between an opinion column/editorial and a news article, right?
