I have noticed that some fans say give Dooley more time. If this was the ACC or Sun Belt I would say yeah, but this is the SEC and many dream of another National Title. I do not think people want to wait 5 to 10 years for at least a SEC title shot. A winning record of 7-5 just is not going to do it. The only hope for Dooley is if Saban, Spurrier, Richt, and Muschamp packs up in the next couple years. That is not to mention Oregon, Oklahoma, and Nebraska being on the schedule the next 5 years.

Dooley is in over his head. One more year will do nothing more than solidify his inability to beat other SEC teams.

This. If the fan base has to suffer through another offseason with Captain Cane at the helm, I can only imagine what this place will be like after we get throttled by Oregon and FLA.

I would imagine it will involve flames and a dumpster.

one more of Dooley and we might as well shut the football program down. We are well on our way to becoming the Ole Miss of the SEC West with that clown running the show, get him out.

Sweet baby Tebow they'd call the Oregon game at Halftime after it was 100-0. Their offense vs. our defense would be horrifyingly bad.

The sad thing is... you were being very gracious in what you said...

For most folks, I think "give him more time" = 1 more yr not 5-10.

I agree he ain't the guy but I also don't think going off half-cocked and canning him without a top rate replacement already lined up is real smart either. If Saban 2.0 is not around this year, waiting another 12 months will probably not kill a program that has lasted for over 100yrs. It might even save us a bundle of cash if the mob of donors with blank checks don't pan out.

At almost 72 years old, I can't wait for 5 years!

Maybe we should just move to the SunBelt. That would solve a lot of problems.

If Dooley is here next year, Oregon will hang 60+ on us. And he will say, "Guys, we just didn't play well. They've got some play makers. We were out of position a few times. Well, if you take out the big plays they made, our defense played pretty well."

Ole MIss is going up not down. They will win the west before we do the east.

Dooley may develop into a good coach some day. But he could never and can not ever survive being on the hot seat at UT. UT cannot allow it without seeing the program backslide. If he were at UF, UGA, or some other school with plenty of instate homer HS talent then you could give him another year. But UT has to pull kids from other states. Top players will not leave home to attend UT to play for a coach on a hot seat. Put yourself in their shoes as non-fans... you wouldn't either.

It is tough. You might even say that it isn't fair. But UT was never an OJT proposition for Dooley. He needed to either be ready or simply have the innate talent to make it work. He didn't.

I don't care if the players coach themselves. It would be an upgrade compared to Dooley. Can him now!

yawn

Just another useless thread to bash and belittle CDD.

How many more of these useless threads do you children need before you'll be happy?

Firing CDD before we have a 100% total HOMERUN hire that's a PROVEN great coach and a great recruiter that's ready to sign the contract would be as ignorant as launching a new ship with 1/2 the bottom still out of it.

I have serious doubts that we'll be able to find that homerun hire that will come to Tennessee for what we'll agree to pay unfortunately.

VFL...GBO!!!

He seems to be surviving that hot seat. He doesn't respond like the spoiled brats that are trying to be something they aren't. He honestly seems to be looking for solutions. It was a dark abyss when he arrived.

When your boss scolds you for failing to ask, "Do you want fries with that?" do you work to improve or just walk away because the hot seat is too hot?

Dooley was told to improve. He clearly focused the offense, the running game, the lines, and even the kicking is better. His hands were tied with the defense when he was told who the new DC should be by his management. He followed his marching orders and it looks like he has now been told by the same management, "Ooops." So now he is going to have to work to repair that situation, too. He will.

I have no doubt that the on-the-field problems will be fixed. I have serious doubt that the fan base will ever accept him regardless of any success that follows. It is a tough situation. Any act to replace him could set the rebuilding process (yes, it is a process) back 3 to 5 years. Unless there is a perfect hire - whatever that means - he will be retained. Will he be supported?

Set it back 3-5 years? Set what back? It's not like we're a middle of the pack SEC team like MSU and replacing Dooley will set us back to the bottom... We are, along with Kentucky, the bottom feeders of the SEC.

In year 3 of Dooley's regime, we are exactly where we were in year 1, bottom of the SEC. Process!!
