I was initially surprised you had Georgia as coach's graveyard over Auburn, but I see that Auburn is building a new arena and at least has some tradition.

What about South Carolina?
South Carolina has a nice new facility and people show up for their games. They just keep hiring average coaches. That won't cut it in the SEC East. Put Bob Huggins or Gregg Marshall, both of whom they have had a shot to hire, there and they would have been consistently making the NCAA Tournament. If Darrin Horn is as good as some people who I really respect think, they'll become a player in the SEC real quick.

I took Georgia over Auburn because Kennedy and Stansbury are the only coaches I really trust in the West. I think Trent Johnson will be good, but I'm not positive. My lack of respect for Pelphrey and Gottfried is well documented. Whoever replaces Lebo is going to have a new arena and not as tall a hill to climb as what Felton, or his replacement, will face at UGA.

I like Stansbury as well. Why do you not like Pelphrey? Besides the fact that he is a crybaby coach, I would tend to think he should at least bring their program back up to competitive.

True. One year does not a career make though. I cant stand the man either as a player or coach, but I just thought that it was a good hire at the time.

Couldn't do much this past year with what he had.. now he's working with nothing.
Exactly. He inherited the second most talented team in the SEC and did nothing with it. South Alabama is a really good job and he didn't do anything of substance there. He's just flat not an SEC caliber coach. Firing Stan Heath to hire him is like switching brands of frozen pizza. It really doesn't make much of a difference.

Hat, how long do you think it will take for MissState to have a consistant NCAA tourney program?

I think they make it pretty consistently now.

Well, I am thinking more of sweet 16s. Sorry I should have been more clear. RS is my fav coach in the SEC west and I wouldnt mind seeing him land a job with a more tradition rich program.

I think Stansbury is a lifer at State. Will they make some Sweet 16s? Yes. Will they do it more often than not? No. The dynamics of that program make that almost impossible.

Oregon State and Georgia both have strong baseball programs.

Didn't Fresno St. beat Georgia in the CWS this year?? I can't remember if it was Georgia or not. Oh yeah hat, will Georgia actually be better this year in B-Ball or will they still stay in the cellar??

Georgia is going to be painfully young. I think they'll have a real tough time finishing ahead of anyone else in the East.
