I think the 3 interviews rule is the NFL's rule not college.

As for Gruden, reading between the lines of all the different rumors, I think you are looking at whether or not UT will meet what the market will call for. Gruden will have multiple opportunities at the NFL level and the coaching salaries are greater in the NFL than they are in the college game.

So, you are looking at a salary of $5-$6 million per year for Gruden but then you are probably looking at $4-$5 million combined for his staff which would put UTs staff at the highest paid in college football.

That being said, I think you could be looking at a good mix between pro coaches and college coaches if everything goes thru. I would be surprised if Gruden's brother, Jay, doesn't end up with Jon as his OC. We would more than likely keep Jay Graham and hopefully Pittman and maybe pull Tee Martin in as WR coach.

It would be nice if he could get his old DC back as well, Raheem Morris. I've heard Biascchi (sp?) who Dooley tried to get could be a possibility as well. Which would hopefully improve our special teams. Then you have the possibility that he could keep Ansley, Conklin and/or Palermo. Would Sunseri stay or even be a possibility as LB coach?

It will be interesting to see how it unfolds if Gruden is the direction we end up going. I will believe it when I see it.

That's a nice list you have there, but there is a list of visits that the new coach (or one of his assistant coaches) needs to make before those. Or, as a minimum, an immediate phone call followed by a visit.

Namely, the current UT commits that the new coach would like to keep. They are anxiously waiting to see who the new coach is and whether they fit into his plans for the team. If I were a current commit and I saw the new coach out visiting prospects without contacting me first, I would get the distinct impression that I wasn't wanted at Tennessee.

I see your point, but a phone call to the current commits he wants to keep will suffice. If someone decommits because he doesn't get one of the first 11 visits, so be it. Would be a mistake on the recruit's part, in my opinion.

The way the statement was phrased I inferred that these were new/different targets. I may be reading too much into it. My point is that I think he should (and will) go right for the top.

Nkemdiche. No thanks. He may be a baller but acting like schools owe him more than one scholly. Ole Piss can have him.

If we get gruden there is zero doubt in my mind that his first call will be to Christian hackenberg to lock down his qb

Believe me, would be the best early Christmas present I've ever had, but I think it's far from a done deal.

Fade, I've never felt like I agree with you more than I have been lately with this Gruden talk. I'm completely on the same page as you. It would be fan-freaking-tastic, but I just don't see it happening.

What?? Smh

Why would the spring game be any more "awesome to attend" now than it has been in the past? Is it because everyone is convinced we're getting Gruden? Because that's what his post implied.

I'm smh because everyone send to think its a done deal, which is asinine.

I just don't see us paying 6.25 million for 8 years, plus that leaves no money for us to pay our staff and the extra buyouts. Anyways I can't take all the anxiety, I am drinking myself into a coma starting now, I'll tell the family to wake me up on Saturday.

It's not going to happen Saturday. The job has to be 'open' for a certain number of days per NCAA rules, and a week is too short of a time.

Also, according to Spring Bok Vol, hart must interview at least three candidates (I hope I got that right) before a new coach is announced.

In other words, yeah, it might indeed happen, but it won't be this weekend.

SN: I suspect Jalen Ramsey is on that list somewhere..

There is no such rule!

Let's wait and see if its Gruden or not before getting the cart ahead of the horse. Many of these insiders aren't as inside as we are often led to believe. Rather they have a friend that has a friend who's uncles cousins neighbors aunt that works in a diner that overheard a conversation by two guys wearing Tennessee orange. I'm just saying the proof will be in the pudding. Lets sit tight for a bit and see which direction we are going to head.

If you raise the ticket $5 per game for 7 home games that's another $4 plus million per season! New TV deal is bringing in $25 million per team! Money is not an issue!

:eek:k:

I would say that he would make another attempt at Derrick Henry. If we could land Green AND Henry? Whoa.

I think he'll target the EE's who have had interest in Tennessee first, and see if he can't make an early impression there.

1. Lawson
2. Green
3. Henry
4. North
5. Sandland
6. Ramsey
7. Tunsil
8. Liner
9. Mackensie Alexander
10. Vonn Bell
11. Nkemdiche

Count Sandland out. He isn't going to an SEC school, sadly.
