It occurred to me yesterday looking at some threads and the ongoing arguments on here that will undoubtedly last for months and probably years, what would have this place been like if we had Volnation 36 years ago instead of only (I think) 16 years? 16 Wonderful years I might add.
What would’ve been the most epic thread topics that would have had @Freak rushing to keep this site from crashing had it been available?

The Good, the bad, the ugly, the sad, the funny....

I’ll start with an obvious one.

The Official #10 Arkansas @ #1 Tennessee Game Thread, 3:30 PM ET, CBS

The range of emotions in a Game Thread already crosses the threshold of insanity at the first incomplete pass. I can’t imagine what this Game Thread would’ve looked like. It would’ve been the Perfect Storm of Game Threads.

There are tons more going through my head and I’m sure a lot of us will have some similar ideas, but some of the older guys and gals can bring some others to the table that a young 37 year old like myself wouldn’t be aware of...Haha. I think this could be fun.

I apologize if this has already been done before.

Here's a would-be gem from 1996 guaranteed to tax Freak's most fail-safe server config:

The Official #6 Tennessee @ Memphis Game Thread, 3:30 PM ET, CBS

"This will be an easy win. We should have a 35-point lead at halftime, so the reserves should see plenty of playing time. Will we play Nebraska or Florida State in the national championship?"

Book it.

Stretching the idea back even farther:

1937 thread - fahr Neyland!

(you know there'd be one. There's always one. It would probably be IknoxvolsI)

...

EDIT and p.s.: The more i think about this, the more compelling and fascinating it is to me. Just look at Neyland's record over the years, and how many times the nega-vols would have called for him to be fired...and how many national championships we'd have missed if they'd had their way:

1926 - 8–1–0
1927 - 8–0–1
1928 - 9–0–1
1929 - 9–0–1
1930 - 9–1–0
1931 - 9–0–1
1932 - 9–0–1
Vols Join SEC
1933 - 7–3–0 He's losing the touch - fahr Neyland!
1934 - 8–2–0
1936 - 6–2–2
1937 - 6–3–1 Yep, he lost it - FAHR NEYLAND!!!
1938 - 11–0–0 National Champs
1939 - 10–1–0 SEC Champs
1940 - 10–1–0 National Champs
Neyland off to WW II
1946 - 9–2–0 SEC Champs
1947 - 5–5–0 Uh-oh...game has passed him by?
1948 - 4–4–2 That's it! FAHR NEYLAND!!!
1949 - 7–2–1
1950 - 11–1–0 National Champs
1951 - 10–1–0 National Champs
1952 - 8–2–1
Neyland passes the torch for the final time

So yeah...the Nega-vols would have screamed for his head a few times in there. And each time would've cost us championships.

If this isn't a cautionary tale for patience, I don't know what would be.

Go Vols!
