Well, it's a passionate article, and I found myself wanting to root for some of it because I find myself in the carpe diem school of thought on this matter. That said, I feel any argument (or arguer, I suppose) begins to lose enormous credibility when he deems it necessary to incorporate name-calling into his discourse. So far, I have seen no compelling evidence that Caldwell was doing anything other than trying to make a wise and best decision. I didn't agree with it, but to label him a coward for it, in my opinion, reduces this writer's argument to nothing. Boo!
