VOL Fans, does history truly repeat itself? I think so, here’s some food for thought for Vol Nation. In light of our first 0-2 start since the 1988 season, let’s walk down memory lane and look back at what the 1989 season was like. Well, well we were 11-1.

I remember very well the famed Miracle at South Bend in 1990. Our program is deep in rich history, passion and tradition and we also need to remember the man in charge of our athletic program, and the pedigree of our head football coach. Rome wasn’t built in a day and the shape our football program has been in will also take time for positive turn around.

I understand that past leadership at UT has hired some real duds that have almost destroyed our storied program. But, things are different now, we have an Athletic Director that loves UT, has played and coached at UT and has won a National Championship. Phillip Fulmer knows what it takes, and he has hired the person he feels has the ability to get UT back contending for championships. I’m old enough to remember previous hard times and how long it took Johnny Majors to get the UT football program rebuilt and Fulmer taking it to the next level.

For those wanting to replace Jeremy Pruitt, you will not like the results if that happens. You’re too impatient; it would take Saban 5+ years to rebuild this program. Be patient, stay the course, support the UT football team and coaches and you will be happy

What makes you so sure that Pruitt is going to do well?

The future is bright for Tennessee...……………………………………………...if Jeremy Pruitt is fired before he brings about even more damage to the Tennessee football program:(

I am so tired of reading UT fans saying Saban would do (fill in the blank) I guarantee you Saban would not have lost to GA St and BYU

Dooley years: We are young and inexperienced, be patient
Butch years: We are young and inexperienced, be patient
Now year 2 for Pruitt and guess what: We are young and inexperienced, be patient

It's all about expectations. I never expected this team to beat/compete with Bama, UF or UGA this season but I never expected to see them be non-competitive with Ga. State or lose to BYU. Its mind-boggling how this program can continually lose to teams with less talent and coaching ability. It just doesn't compute.

Yep, fire a coach after game 14. Makes perfect sense. I am sure there will be tons of takers under those hiring conditions.

Want to ruin your team forever, fire your head coach after 14 games. Instant gratification doesn't work in most cases. The results lack real permanence.

So you rather keep a coach who’s under performed since he’s been here?

I bet you loved Dooley and Butch for 3 years also
Nope, I supported the team but thought Dooley was an idiot. Butch was there for five. I support the VOLS, whomever is playing or at the helm. Always have, always will. I really don't care what the whiners and cryers of the world have to say. None of you idiots will have any effect on the decisions anyway. Einstein was right with his description of insanity.

Again, he has been here for less than two years, inherited a dumpster fire from the previous coach, and has coached a total of 14 games, going 5-9. I think it is short sighted and immature to want to pull the trigger after that resume. Keep whining, the AD will continue to do things the right way.

I mean it couldn’t get much worse could it?
Oh, it could if some on here get their way. 0-24 over the next two years could be a possibility. If those who are so heart broken are serious about their desires, stop watching UT football until the coach is fired, stop going to games, stop buying products from any company that advertises with UT in their sites; stop contributing in any way. See if that is enough to change things. Anything short of that will be completely ignored.

When has our administration done anything the right way?

The problem with this, other than it's incredibly simplistic, is in 1988 was a shock. We were 3 seasons from winning the SEC and the Sugar Bowl. And looking back, it's obvious it was a season that sticks out as almost a fluke.

This season seems like more of the same.
