Look I love Milton...hit positive attitude, his leadership...the fact that he stuck around so he could get his shot, all of it. With that said, I realized on the free play where they jumped offsides and he casually ran out of bounds a yard short of the first down that he just does not have what it takes to be a great QB in this offense or even really good. You HAVE to throw that downfield or get the first down. We got stuffed on 3rd down and then failed on 4th and they drive down for a TD and it should have NEVER happened. I could not believe it because that is such a simple play. You have to have more awareness than that and he just...doesn't. I also realize that good or bad this year is his so while I am frustrated I will hope for the best!

Couldn’t trust the refs to throw a flag on offsides or false start this game, they were terrible on all sides. I don’t blame him for assuming the refs might pick up the flag or call illegal procedure or something dumb
All the more reason you have to get the first. Do you understand what you just said

No question about it. He just lacks awareness.

That was the main thing I had against him last night. Otherwise it was 2 defenses going at each other. Even so, Max Johnson had a worse day statistically. Milton was 50% on 22 attempts. Johnson was 47% on 34 attempts. Milton Had a TD and an INT. Johnson had 0 TDs and 2 INTs. Max did have a TD on the ground though. We played against what will probably be the best defense we play all year and it showed.

We all know exactly what we are getting with Joe Milton now. Great athleticism. Cannon of an arm. Better than average game manager. Exceptional leader in the locker room. But is not a dynamic playmaker who can take over a game.

My take away from yesterday's game is that Max Johnson is 10x better playmaking QB than Joe Milton. Johnson was able to make some dynamic plays like diving for the pylon and scoring the touchdown, and also able to read the pressure and get several pas attempts out at the last minute and avoid taking a sack. And some of those third down conversions with defenders right in his face were pretty amazing.

I was pleasantly surprised by the performance of our OLine. The passing game had time.
I couldn't see on TV if WRs were open.
With current qb it really doesn’t matter if they’re open or not

There were a lot of times they weren't wide open and a few times Joe threw it to one who was having his arm held while he was trying to catch the ball.

Also the current QB had a statistically better night than their QB. This was a defensive game.

Better than average game managers don’t trot out of bounds short of first down. They just don’t

Reminded me of him running out of bounds against Ole Miss. 0 situational awareness.
I said that too sitting in that stadium yesterday. “He just did the same thing he did against Ole Miss!” At least it wasn’t the end of the game. He just has to be more aware of the need to complete the play and make that extra effort.

So because he had a “statistically” better game than their QB. It’s all good. That un statistical qb is better than ours. Any day

I didn't say that. I'm saying that people are just assuming everything's Joe's fault. A&M came in to play Defense. We came in to play defense. I'm saying it was a defensive game. DId Joe have a good game no? But maybe its because the defenses were stout. Also, I'd take our offense over theirs any day. If Keyton didn't drop those 2 balls, we'd be having a completely different conversation about Joe.

Is it him or is it our defense and run game masking not so good QB play?
Well, I'd say it would be quite a bit worse if he was throwing a ton of interceptions or losing a bunch of fumbles or never scoring touchdowns. So I'd say it's some of each.
