The Freaking ESPN Computer Hates Us

This freaking computer thinks we're getting four wins with a battle against Kentucky for No. 5.

Clemson Tigers not Alabama Crimson Tide top FPI's preseason ranking

But UTEP is road kill.

Here is the formula for FPI. Going off these measures, why should UT be higher? There is 3 guaranteed wins on the schedule. You can’t say UK or any other team in the SEC is a ‘guarantee’ when UT was last in the SEC last year and couldn’t beat a single team from the SEC. The formula:

Team performance over the past four seasons (most emphasis on last season)

Returning starters at quarterback, on offense overall and on defense

Whether a team has a returning head coach

Recruiting rankings over the past four seasons

lol - we were 4-8 last year, have a coaching staff that has never coached a game together, have a HC that has never been a HC - what do you expect?

Some of you need to look at reality. We could get lucky next year - but more than likely we are looking at years before we get back to 9 wins.

I think we could get to 9 wins in season 2 of the Pruitt era. The talent is just so much better now than it was in 2012 when Doofus got the boot.

Football is a sport intended entirely for enjoyment purposes, yes? We are not exactly talking about world events, politics, the environment, illegal immigration or our economy, so why even care about these prognostications. Did we think the preseason prediction that UT's basketball team was going to be 13th to be an objective one? A lot of people probably did and yet they could finish second. Why care what a bunch of self proclaimed sports "analysts" think about a game much less some team's season that doesn't even start for almost 7 months? It's supposed to be entertainment, right? And yes, hating someone because they happen to pick our team to finish near or at the bottom of the SEC is rather childish.

I disagree. CFB is more important than that stuff.
