What's the exact area of The Fort? And how much parking will be available first thing Saturday morning?

free parking would just be on the side of the street ... white ave, clinch ave, laurel ave, highland ave, and 13th - 22nd st

The Fort is the general are around Fort Sanders hospital. But as far as free parking goes, I think it is a myth

Most of this is privately owned and parking is rented out ranging in the $10-30 range depending on how close it is to Neyland

Yeah you're looking for side street parking, which nobody can charge for, but you won't find any available. Good luck.

It's great for basketball games, if you're willing to walk.

If you can find a spot on the street it is free. Essentially you can think of the fort as the area between 23rd and Worlds Fair Park (west to east) and Cumberland to Grand Ave (south to north). It is laid out on a grid so is easy enough to navigate. Essentially you can start from one end and go up and down the one way streets till you find a spot.

You must pay attention to the parking signs though or you will be towed before you shut the door of your car.

Early Saturday you can find parking on the streets. I would just pay and get closer unless you are a fitness buff.

Oh, and your chances of getting a spot are about 2 percent. Many people will tell you it is not possible, but you can find a spot. Mainly because lots of folks drive to the fort on Friday to go party and end up crashing there. If you are early enough, you can find some spots by looking for half-drunk kids staggering out of the many houses and apartments to head home.

don't count on finding a spot tho, something tells me 100,000 people will be looking for the same spots ... do yourself a favor; save the stress of looking, and come to grips with paying 10-20 bucks to park

I agree with this completely. You CAN find parking on the street if you are early and patient, but for $20 bucks you can save yourself an hour of drinking time and stress.

Last game I went to last year, I parked in the big parking lot where disc exchange is and walked from there. Pretty good hike but it was free to park there.

Just find a Non commuter student parking pass and have the student bring it to you and just go park in a student lot. Always works for us.

I have a spot I always go to in the fort and noone parks there. It's on the side of the street but for some reason people think its not okay to park there but I do it everyweekend.

I'm not stressing over free parking as much as it sounds. I know where to park but have never had my own tailgate and just wanna be in a good spot around plenty others since I can't get to G-10 like I wanted.... And I heard good stuff about the fort but have changed my mind about trying that. What about somewhere near Volunteer Village? Any non permit lots around there?? I ask because I hardly go up to that side.
