Do we win this game? I know we have already talked about this on other threads but just wanted to get some of your thoughts on this game. What will we have to do to come away with a victory? I think the problem in the past has been our ultra conservative play calling. I think we would have a chance in the swamp but I actually think we win since we play at Neyland.

1) No screw ups in special teams.

2) On offense, get the ball in our playmakers hands and limit turnovers.

3) On defense, be proactive and disruptive rather than reactive, tackle well, and hit HARD.

i think there are three reasons as to why Tennessee should come out on top...

1. I really believe that Tebow will not be as effective this year...in all his games.

2. I think that Tennessee will be amped for the game, wanting to avenge last year.

3. We at the stadium, players included will be energized from the neyland stadium hot dogs, the ones with the spicy brown mustard and sweet ketchup and the watered down coke...yum!!!

this game this year will be critical to having a successful season. My hesitation in saying Tennessee WILL win is with our defensive front. We can win, but not sure we will without posting 40 plus points. We are paper thin in quantity of players up front. Many of what we have, are just beginning to tap into learning how to play at this level.

While Florida may have some of the same issues I still have concern that our kids are healthy enough to go and can play without a host of mistakes. With Nelson down, can't afford anymore injuries from front 4. IMO, can't afford to lose Wilson, G Williams or McCoy either.

These positions are more concerning then any unit at UT in a long long time. I'm afraid kids are going to have to play too many snaps and end up hurt and on sidelines.

keys to the entire season IMO

I think we have to avoid playing "not to lose." If we get a lead and then start playing to preserve it, not build on it, we seem to fold.

That and containment on Tebow will be big.

In this case, good thing we play florida early for once... before we get too banged up (hopefully).

Knock the snot out of Tebow and Harvin. I'm not talking about injurying them... just hitting them so hard that our linebackers can see the fear in the Gators' eyes when they line up.

One purpose of the spread option offense is to keep moving the ball, thereby keeping the opponent's defense on the field where they can be worn down.

The UTK offense will have to give the defense a chance to rest. It is almost a certainty that they Gators will put up significant points with all thier weapons. That means the Vols must score more that they punt AND sustain drives to rest the defense.

Don't forget they have Moody now. Blitz too much and you can get burned on the ground or through the air. The UF offense will probably be better than last year, hard as that is to imagine.

Not sure how many changes ya'll made on D-fense from last year, but we have added some weapons on O, even with the loss of Ingram. However, even though we keep hearing how much better our D has got in the offseason I refuse to drink the orange and blue Kool-Aid until I see it on the field. I am really pumped for this game like every year, and just hope you guys beat UCLA and we beat Miami to keep both fan bases hyped for what is always a great college football game/atmosphere

Play keep away and control the clock. Make tebag throw instead of giving him five yards a pop up the gut.

The way to beat their spread offense is with strong DT play. blow up the line, take away the cut back lanes. Can we do that? I hope so.

What's the receiver situation on Rocky Top look like? Obviously are secondary was our glaring weakpoint last year, and although I'm hopeful we've improved, until proven on the field it still is the best place to attack.

Stick on Harvin like glue and knock the heck out of Tebow, ALOT. Get our D-Linemen into the backfield early and often.

As long as our O-Line outmuscles their D-Line, and our TB's pick up blitzes on passes, we'll be alright.

Oh yeah, and tackle the little guy returning punts and kick-offs.

There is no reason to believe that "1" will hold true. "3" is nonsensical.

Therefore, we are to expect that we should win because we "will be amped for the game," as opposed to our usual demeanor come Florida week?

I'm sorry, but it's going to take a lot more argument than that for me to expect a win.

I'm reading all this and thinking, no wonder some fans ask the question after games that they think we should have won big...."Why was the team not focused on winning the UCLA, and AUB games??....:eek:k:

bro...dang man. after you push up your glasses a little and snort a couple of times after explaining that Gondor has seven moons learn to have a little fun. Sheez. Go watch Lord of the Rings again, move out of your mom's basement...oh and quit wearing denim shorts. I think UT has a good chance to win...we can only see when they take the field.

Who was it in last year's recruiting class that when asked what he wanted to accomplish in his time @ UT Responded with"Knock out Tim Tebow!!! I'm sick of him already!" Was that Chris Walker??? Who ever it is it makes me laugh.
