I'm not saying every fan understands economics, but a lot do.His condescending remarks about fans not understanding the economics of football and using the term"Pollyanna View" are grounds for his resignation IMO.He should have thought about that when he was in contract negotiations and offered a $3 mil buyout package to Fulmer. The fans don't understand it?

Umm... didn't he just do what the majority of the fan base desired? He sure as heck does understand infinitely more about economics than the casual fan in my estimation.

I was very pissed about the fulmer contract extension last summer, but Hambone redeemed himself in my eyes this week. However, his lasting legacy could very well be built on his next decision.

I didn't find the remark even slightly condescending. He's just stating facts of life.

This is the second time you've started a thread this week and said something about a $3 million buyout when everybody else knows it is $6 million...

I couldn't have said it better.

I agree. After hearing some of the past players speak such as Tee Martin, Haynesworth and so on; it seems Hamilton may be as much of a reason with our decline as Fulmer.

Our slide started well before hambone came on the scene in '03. He has nothing to do with it... the blame lies squarely at the feet of fulmer.

As a young guy who recently got a Masters in Finance with an Undergrad degree in Economics, I completely understand your viewpoint. Don't let some of the others on this board flame you. You are correct in this assesment. It's borderline offensive when the AD thinks the fanbase is dumb and doesn't understand anything. Some of us go out of our way to learn as much as we can with regards to all aspects of the program. There are plenty of intelligent people on this board who could excel in the AD's office (not as the AD him or herself).

Spend much time on this board or listening to Knoxville sports talk radio? You fall more in to the exception category rather than the rule.

New swimming, softball, basketball practice facilities...

Monster renovations to Neyland in mid phases...

Thompson Boling is now a jewel of the SEC...

Sorry, what were you saying?...

That's true...especially the talk radio. I live in Atlanta right now but grew up in (parents still live in) Knoxville. I love sports talk, but it's downright painful to listen to some of the callers. Especially as of late. It seems like they only let Fulmerons on the air that are barely coherent and make no logical sense. I guess I was just letting the guy who started the thread know that there are some of us out here who agree. I see more knowledgeable posts on this board than any other TN one I visit.

Ummmmm....it was $6 mil. and I think a "pollyanna view" very clearly describes the response from a majority of the fan base. It was very eye opening to me when UT was down 27-0 to Florida and they were finally able to score a td, the crowd went crazy. And, not in a sarcastic way. It was a legitimate cheer. It made me sick, to be honest.

Football program is declining. That's all that really matters at Tennessee now isn't it?

Those that wanted Coach Fulmer gone got their wish- I'd like to see threads like this gone and go forward with our football program.. Mike Hamilton did what he did, why call for his head? Some people just aren't happy- if anyone can run the athletic program at UT better then feel free to apply for the job.. geesh...

GO VOLS....
GO BIG ORANGE .......

You're basing your desire to get rid of Hamilton on it took too long to let CPF go? It was handled on the timeline that it had to be due to a multitude of factors. Hamilton so far has done an awesome job as OWH pointed out. His next big decision on who coaches the football program will seal the deal. He's done just fine so far.

I heard Jimmy Hyams saying that Fulmer is now mad at Mike Hamilton and that is just silly. If it weren't for MH Fulmer might have already been fired and he surely wouldn't be getting 6 million dollars.

It doesn't matter how nice the facilities are if we aren't winning in football. As much as I like Pearl, it means little if we aren't winning in football. Hamilton has not done an awesome job. He's done a steady, expected job. We will know soon as to if he is capable of doing an awesome job or not. The AD is the general manager equilivant to NFL. He needs to get us winning again in order for many to believe he's doing an awesome job.
