It is a sure sign I have been away from dirt late models too long when I recognize only about a dozen of these names.

Josh Richards just did about 20 minutes on Wind Tunnel. Anybody else see it? Seems like he will be getting a shot on asphalt soon.

Yeah, he seems to be a little behind the curve for this day and time though. Alot of these young guys are on asphalt in their teens so they can move up the ranks whike they are still young. He's already 21(I know that's still young). Stewart, Bowyer, and Newman seemed to speak highly of him. I'm sure that helps out his resume.

I grew up on dirt late model racing more than i did Nascar, i remember going to Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap Tn every saturday night. I havent been yet this year though, they have fan appreciation night this coming Friday so ill probably go along with my dad.

Anyways Jimmy Owens won the Dream, he is from my hometown. He has really made something of hisself. He has won 2 races in a row now. But i dont think i have ever seen anyone that can drive a late model as smooth as Scott Bloomquist can.

I was conducting the races at Kingsport Speedway/Raceland when Scott was just getting started. His ability to set up the car for track conditions was way ahead of the rest, plus he had first class equipment. Put that together with above average talent, and he won just about every week. Except once when I had to disqualify him for being less than 30 lbs underweight. I don't think he has gotten over it yet. At least he had not the last time I saw him a few years ago. This happened in 1985!

BTW are there any races at the Newport Speedway?

My dad has been to Kingsport Speedway a few times, my moms side of the family is from up there. Growing up all i heard was about smart & good Bloomquist was setting up his car, my dad is a huge Bloomer fan. I use to be until Owens got up into Late Model racing, i love seeing Owens & Bloomquist go at it at Volunteer Speedway.

Yea they still race down here, its asphalt now. I live maybe 2 miles from the track i hear them racing every satruday night. I hate that place though, its so small & narrow. Its like follow the leader, its so hard to pass there. Nobody ever goes to them, their lucky to usually have enough cars to show up to race.

Oh, please. He drives in a league where money prevails, and he has alot. I've seem him get beat by people who can barley afford his used tires. I'm not taking away from his abilities, but give him a budget of the 2nd place guy and see how well he does.

Bloomquist races with the Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model series along with the likes of Donnie Moran, Billy Moyer, Steve Francis, Rick Eckertt, Jimmy Owens, Shannon Babb, & many more who have plent of money.
