Theres not really a dilemma at this point. He took a terrible situation to fix and somehow made it harder to do.
Ga St and BYU put him in a terrible position. He has lost the majority of support he had. He has put his tenure here in a precarious spot. He has nothing to lose at this point but a job.
I can see that as well. Hes also a very young coach that will get a DC job pretty quick if he wants it. But he also doesnt want a titanic moment that derails any future head gigs this quick. The dilemma is not Pruitt’s, but ours. Yes, he may lose his job, but in the college coaching world, he gets paid regardless. That really makes this our dilemma, not his. I like my job, but if I lose it, I don’t get paid...so that provides pretty strong motivation for me to perform and meet my objectives.
I really believe that CJP wants to succeed and is doing his best to accomplish success. But honestly so far he has not shown any progress at all, and to be fair, seems to have regressed.
Which begs the question: What were Pruitt’s actual objectives for this year?

The coach speak is win every game. Realistically, it was probably show enough progress on the field that you can sell it in living rooms.
It's not all on JG but I dont think him or Chaney felt like he was going to be a massive liability. At worse a game manager that doesnt screw up too much.
It hasn't worked out.
Agreed. It certainly hasn’t. I submit that the realistic objectives for this year should have been:
1. Win all of the relatively soft 2019 out of conference games you should win (GA State, BYU, UTC, UAB, 4 wins)
2. Win at least 2-3 of the lesser SEC games (Miss State, Mizzou, South Carolina, Kentucky, Vandy, 6-7 wins)
3. Play respectable against the upper SEC teams (Florida, Georgia, Alabama, probably no wins here)
Finish 2019 with at least 6-7 wins, go to a mid-tier bowl game and look to further progress in 2020. Those were my expectations at least.
Our first two losses tossed that plan out of the window.
I hope your right cause this would imply the coaches know whats going on and potentially have the sense to deal with it and succeed....like i said, I hopeEvery now and then during the baseball season, a starting pitcher is getting abused and the manager doesn't get anyone ready in the bullpen.
It's a 162 game season and the manager has decided the game is lost and he's not going to add innings to his bullpen in a game that has been lost. So, the starter is left to take one for the team.
I think this is an analogy for the current dilemma for Pruitt.
If I play the current personnel, we're going to lose. But, I potentially protect the confidence of the other guys.
If I play the younger guys, we're still going to lose. But, they can either potentially gain valuable experience moving forward or.....I can break their confidence as the meat grinder portion of the schedule is now here.
I think this is some of what's going on
Play young players and cut loose. Bench guys like Warrior snd JG and start getting ready for the last 4 games and next season.
Get the hell off this board gator trollVanderbilt and UAB. Not saying whether Tennessee wins or loses, but those they can win.
They have no shot against Alabama and Georgia. Any given Saturday shot against Missouri and South Carolina. We always beat Kentucky shot against Kentucky. But, Kentucky is on the road and I wouldn't pick this team to win on the road.
I agree. That said, if I'd seen him while I was in Florida this weekend I would've kicked him in the butt, but he's been a respectable guy on here.Cause he’s not a. He just posts along with fans from other teams. And sometimes perspective from outsiders is good. Have you seen any of the other boards??? Volnation is by far the best in the country.
I can agree in part with this argument, but the young guys need to take snaps, and they have the past two games. Should have been all 4, but it's something we need to see going forward.Every now and then during the baseball season, a starting pitcher is getting abused and the manager doesn't get anyone ready in the bullpen.

I like this take. I'd also be sure to gauge their mentality after each series to see if they're ok or if it's too much for them. If it's too much, throw JG back in, he's already far gone anyway. You can play them AND prevent "PTSD". Prepare them hard, but let them know what the expectations are and KEEP IT SIMPLE and realistic. Go play hard. Have fun. And we'll learn from playing the best and move forward. ****ING RALLY the team around the youngster!!! REBOOT!! Play loose. NOBODY expects anything more than 100% effort.
I think there's a slim chance against Miss state. They're not doing well.Vanderbilt and UAB. Not saying whether Tennessee wins or loses, but those they can win.
