That.. and a crap load of talent. Kirby Smart is a good coach but also coaches elite players at all positions. The difference in coaching ability between Smart and Pruitt is minimal, IMO.

If talent was even, we win that game. Pruitt and staff weren't out coached, they went up against a roster with NFL talent at nearly every position. That defense alone is better than anything we've seen from Alabama during their dynasty. What do you draw up as a game plan for that? There's no magic bullet other than recruiting. Get 5 stars at every position and then you'll win these types of games. Much easier said than done.

Well for starters Kirby took the Scout team quarterback and a Freshman O-line and scored 44 points against a pretty good defensive effort.

Pruitt took a 5th year senior and an O-line full of veteran 5 stars and did nothing with a halftime lead.

That’s different.

The biggest difference is that Kirby has 2 more recruiting classes on JP and he didn't have to start from scratch. Richt left the team in fairly good shape. TN has sucked for about 30 years now ala bargain basement hires and dud Ads. Doubt they're elite again in my lifetime. Time is runnin out.

yep, I do believe our o-line is all former 4 and 5 star recruits so in that department it’s coaching.

This wont be a popular opinion but has Trey Smith got any better under the tutelage of Will Friend?

If so, how much of that growth was just due to Trey overcoming the lack of coaching and just normal improvements from Fr to Sr?

If Kirby was a good coach he would have known Bennett was the man to begin with! This kid can play! He is very accurate and can run! He was the best off. player on the field today!

The difference is the talent on the field at literally every position. Quit kidding yourself, if there was a clear better choice they would be out there. Quit being dense.

When you can’t block them, the QB doesn’t make much difference.

Of course it does if you have a mobile qb, Dobbs had a terrible ol, much worse than this one. In todays football imo you have to have a mobile qb to win the big games. Just look at the elite teams they all have qb who can throw and also get out of trouble when the blocking fails.
