The comment in this article towards UT was not necessary

Unnecessary? Maybe. Inaccurate? No. That said, Stuart Mandel makes me look like the President of TCHFCATUTK's Fan Club. I'm not sure I've ever seen him write anything that would be considered remotely positive about TCHFCATUTK.

That comment added nothing to his piece, other than a low blow. If it were in bad taste but was a crucial part of the article, so be it...but really there was no reason to say that.

That's ok, let him get his shots in now. It won't last long :thefinger:

If the point of his article was to show that Wiiliams is radioactive to schools, the comment did have a legitimate purpose. However, given Mandel's history with TCHFCATUTK, I would say the intent was to kick the UT program.

Boo

Hoo

Stewart Mandel said something bad about our team. Who cares? His opinion is worth about as much as his looks.

I certainly don't think it's an accurate statement. UT has had it's share of players that got in trouble in the last year. However, we don't have a consistent history of recruiting players with known criminal backgrounds.

I don't know about that. We've had as many bad actors as anyone. If you are considered to be too much trouble for us, there are only two possibilities. One, you really can't play. Two, you are a future 3 strikes poster boy.

Definitely a weak pot shot . . . but unfortunately we've been in those sorts of conversations lately. If you don't want to be the target of BS, don't supply the ammo. :twocents:

The more I think about it, the less I think it is a cheap shot. Who in the last decade has had more current and former players on the police blotter than us? While I think Mandel was just taking a swipe at TCHFCATUTK, he does have a valid point.

Whatever it was; I'm constantly amazed how a generation of sportswriters has degenerated into bad comedy writing. They all do it, and very few of them are anywhere near as funny or intelligent as they think.

It really wasn't ol' Stewie's point to make anyway. What he knows about UT football would fit on my fingernail. He just writes that stuff hoping to generate some hate mail.

...and to generate enough emotion that somebody might "protest" by linking it on a message board so that SI will get more hits. :whistling:

TCHFCATUTK seems to bring out the worst in all of the current generation. This article is just another example of a point I have made many times; the national media believes TCHFCATUTK is a buffoon. Mandel, Matt Hayes, Tom Dienhart, Dennis Dodd, all the New York papers, the LA Times, the list goes on and on. At some point, don't we have to ask if our fan base isn't essentially the crazy guy in the corner talking about how he's sane and the rest of the world is crazy.
