Just offer a coach any coach a truck load of cash then guarantee total control within reason of course without negative outside influence. That's the reason we are having a hard time finding a top notch coach its not money its being a puppet to big money boosters and a rabid relentless fan base.

So basically, turn in to Alabama jr? I'm perfectly fine with that. Someone pitch in for gas money to drive to Washington state. I'm all in.

I'm amazed that you are not an athletic director at a power 5 school. Truly. Amazed.

Just put a listing on Indeed at this point. The RFQ write up and subsequent responses would be enough comedy gold to ease the sting of the actual hire for months. Win-win

i think we pretty much just did that today and got a 'no'.

The money part yes but that wasn't the deciding factor it was the control. Any coach that takes this job knows who calls all the shots. Currie doesn't wipe after taking a dump unless big Jim says it's ok that need so change.

control is not something that's on the table. and it's not at OSU either. the devil you know is better than the devil you don't.

i agree that until the haslam role in this program is resolved, things are not going to get a whole lot better.

throwing money at it hasn't worked.

The search just started today. Currie knew butch was gone after uga, and the search just started today.

There was never going to be a search. Schiano was the the pick day 1. Thank god for UT fans .

Control of the football program for the HBC and AD should not be out of the question. Just tell the fan base and big boosters to let the coach do his job

At this point they need to just offer Lane a good contract, and see if he would be on board.

If he were willing to get into this mess........Tennessee Vol's should forgive.......because most want no part of this and it would seem things would be worse for him.......I'm saying if he would.....it would have to be for the right reasons......sure many don't like him.......heck I haven't until I saw how all media were treating Tennessee and the fans........then I knew we would be lucky to get anything......so for Lane I had to just let it go........and hope.

That's what I was about to say....we just did and Gundy said no.

Not sure why in the world Currie tried that tactic on Gundy.......sure he is a good coach and certainly should be paid more than he was......but that guy is all......ALL OSU.

If you were going to do that, frekin do it to someone who might leave......or someone that doesn't have ties to the school they are at.......just plain dumb.

Also the more this happens the worse the situation gets.

Now everyone knows they have tried at least 2 people and they know how much money was offered.

The next guy will be at least the 3rd option and will know the kind of money the last guy was offered........heck whoever finally gets the job will have all kinds of leverage.

We will never have a decent football program again until Haslam is gone. He screwed up the Gruden deal the first time around and he screwed up the Gruden deal the second time around. Haslam doesn't want anybody who doesn't bow down to the King of Tennessee. He loves puppets. And Currie is a bigger puppet than Hamilton ever was.

FYP, we aren’t good enough to advertise on Indeed.
