Our offense played one of their best games of the season today. They definitely got going earlier than they have all season. We were really efficient, didn't turn the ball over, and made tons of big plays. So why are people complaining about offensive play calling? Newsflash... You can't really go deep when your o-line is getting the qb killed. It takes time to get receivers open 30 or 40 yards down the field. Our qb does not have that kind of time. Quit blaming the coaches... Our o-line sucks and the defense is slow. We need better players... Period.

I’d settle for 10-15 yds down the field.

You missed the 2nd half I take it? Our offense did look good the first half. One team made good adjustments the other team, well not so much.

JG had plenty of time most passing plays to get the ball 10-15 yards downfield. Not sure if the WR's weren't getting open, he wasn't seeing them or has simply been instructed not to throw anything but short stuff. Regardless of the reasoning Charlotte is probably our only win left.

We don’t have enough “want to.” And by that I mean players that day “he!! no, not on my watch”.

We have some skill players on offense like Jennings and Callaway that are like that.

But, I don’t think we have one player like that on defense.

Definitely our best running game of the season, but we had zero down field passing threat, and muschamp knew it. We couldn't stop the run either, and he won the war of attrition, because Bentley was a threat to pass, and run himself.

Buck passing and blame shifting to players is never something I'm going to agree with. Pruitt not even trying to score from near mid-field in the 1st half was horrible. P.S. anything was going to be an improvement in the 1st half over prior games. We were the only team in the country who's offense hadn't scored a 1st quarter touchdown this season.

But if they go for the home run play and Guarantano drops back and gets blasted and fumbles the ball or throws an interception there, people would have criticized the coaching too. Like I said, they are danged if they do and danged if they dont.

Helton has adjusted to what he has to work with what he has to work with given the O line situation. Actually liked what he did tonight for the most part.

Problem is this team as a whole is too soft, sloppy and undisciplined to pull out many games.

The o line in particular is as bad as it was in 2013 and showing no signs of improvement.

Thought the defense would show some improvement but 200 points given up the last 5 games has Pruitt looking more like Sal Sunseri with each loss.

The only thing I feel like the coaches did poorly was there’s still too many personal fouls/unsportsmanlike calls on us

Near the 40 with 1 timeout, and 45 seconds on the clock and we kneel. Wonder what excuse there is for that? Worst case we throw deep and incomplete, we still can kneel out the half if SC uses both timeouts. Wasted oportunity.

Or throw a pick or fumble giving South Carolina another chance to put points on the board.

That's the odd thing. He goes for it on 4th and 1. Kicks onsides when not necessary. He is known for taking gutsy chances...why not do it there?

Exactly.

Only needed about 25 yards in 40 seconds, with a timeout to burn.

Not even that risky, IMO.

Muschamp, well really their DC, took away our downfield threat. His whole game plan was to not get beat downfield. Helton called what the defense was giving him.

Our offense was just OK, IMO, even though it it outshined our defense tonight:

* 24 points and 351 total yards are not impressive numbers, the former 2 pts less than our season average coming in and the latter matching our season average, which was 108th nationally coming into this game

* We ran 22 plays on our last 2 possession but gained just 62 yards, so we converted some 3rd-down plays but were far from efficient when it came to moving the ball into scoring range

* For the game we averaged an abysmal 5.3 yards per pass attempt and 4.8 yards per offensive play; based on season averages, both rank below 120th nationally

* Our longest play was just 20 yards and only 2 others went for more than 14 yards

Our offense did some things well: We dominated time of possession (over 38 min)...our RBs ran hard and were effective overall, averaging 5.5 ypc...our 3rd-down conversion rate of 69% was outstanding. But otherwise, my dad and I agreed it was another very frustrating performance to watch.

There was nothing wrong with the game plan. The problem was 5 false starts and and a substitution penalty, plus two unsportsmanlike penalties. I don't know who is to blame here, coaches or players, (except for two unsportsmanlike), but that is what cost us the game.

Which drive are you referring to?

We did try to throw the ball deep a few times. SC was setting back waiting on that. Their coaches weren't going to allow us the deep ball. JG took what the defense gave us. That is all you can do. Our defense didn't stop them in the last half of the game. Then you throw in all the penalties. We are not talented enough to over come those things.

The last sack wasn't the O lines fault, plenty of time. JG internal clock and SA isn't all the where it needs to be, hope he can improve it
