The Butch Jones Show

You just dont like the coach speak bc you're not happy with the product on the field. If you were happy with the product no one would say anything about his coach speak. 95% of coaches speak coach speak.
no kidding Mr. Moto. if the team were performing the way it should, I wouldn't care if he did the show in a tiara and pink tutu

I think there's a lot more going on with the chemistry of this team. Jones sold the whole "family" thing, and then kicks his ugly wife (Jancek) to the curb for a younger, sexier version.
Well, that doesn't mean the kids are going to embrace dad's choice, especially when so many really loved mom. And, even more when dad's bone-headed decisions and anemic offense did more to hurt the family than one bad play in one game.

"I think we were ready to play"
That statement is what scares me about this season. If they were ready to play then they arent good enough to win the east.

Wash

Repeat

Been four years of the same. Going to many more at this rate.

Yeah I know. I'm tired of him winning so many damn games myself. We will never be able to fire him if he keeps going on these stupid 9+ game winning streaks. Tired of it. Need to get Dooley back so we can fire him again. Firing people is fun. More fun than winning apparently.

He had two bad misses but the one he missed down the middle, there was definately somebody hitting him as soon as he let it go. Check the tape, you will see. Dobbs should have been 21/27 (78%) with 2 tds, no INT's, and over 200 yards passing. I will take that performance every game. If it aint good enough for the rest of you, be prepared to be in misery for years to come. Theyve obviously been trying to protect Dobbs for this SEC run, you will see more running from him from here on out, and thus, more open WR's, and more openings for Hurd.

I don't blame the INT on Dobbs, that was on the receiver. Here's the strategy for UF: Hurd in the backfield zero in on him; Kamara running across the backfield to the sidelines key on him; Play 8-9 guys in the box, jam the receiver, Dobbs will be sacked before he can make that 15 yard throw. Keep Dobbs in the pocket. O-Line is pourous so just keep rushing fresh guys. Result: 3 & out, again, & again, & again.

How difficult is this to predict?

More: And since we know Dobbs has to get rid of the ball quickly you know they'll be waiting on the screen plays and the ever-so-effective sideline throw hoping they will miss the tackle (ending up with an incomplete pass or 2 yard loss). That's about as creative as this offense is going to get. Throwing the deep ball is greater than 50-50 for the INT; UF's secondary players are faster & quicker than the teams we've been playing.

Anything I miss?

Thats why I said if he doesnt beat all three

Not going to happen. I will be happy if he beats UF & UGA then we can talk beating Bama in the game that counts, the SEC CG. I also don't want to hear excuses about the injuries. Yes, better to have those guys back but are the next men up prepared, coached, ready to fill in? They get paid (Coaches) to have all the guys prepared & ready for their opportunities. Earn it.

You have to admit that our offense is very predictable. Even the announcers on tv were saying things like "here comes a quarterback draw", and it was.

Because there was no one in the middle and we have a running QB. That's what all spread teams do.

Yes, instead of constantly telling us the "players are still learning to win", he could add "as coaches, we need to learn to put our players in a position to win. Today, we made some bad calls and adjustments. That is on me and I expect myself and my staff to do a better job at preparing"

See, a real leader takes blame instead of consistently and with resilience, continuing to lay blame elsewhere

Until he realizes there is flaws in his system, he will not correct them. That is why we are seeing the same issues in year 4 as we did in years 1,2 and 3.

But, by all means, continue your blind faith. The Koolaid tastes great
Since CBJ has history with Debord I'm wondering if that factors in to our offensive flaws and failure to correct. Is CBJ reluctant to come down on Debord because Debord used to be his boss?

Would love to see us come out and go at their secondary first play. I know, kinda scary...pretty risky. Dobbs has thrown well early in games. I'm sure because it hasn't been expected, but Florida definitely wouldn't expect us to come out throwing. Surely their are still plenty of things we haven't seen yet. Debord just doesn't have the stones.

He uses coach speak and never says controversial things. Is it boring? Yep but it's not embarrassing like the 2 fools we had before him.
And how do you know he doesn't "see" his mistakes? The arrogance of you and those like you who THINK you know what's going on because you watch the games and read websites is astounding. His players believe in him full tilt.
Have we played a complete game yet? Not at all. But this team has what it takes and the scheme works well when executed and to say otherwise is just wrong.
I'd much rather get our bad games out of the way against the first 3 teams we play than in league play.

I know he doesn't see his mistakes because he hasn't corrected them ever. And you are very wrong about the players believing in him. Very wrong about that

I hear mixed things about this.

Source A will tell you these players will fight to the death for Butch Jones, then Source B will come behind them and say they all can't stand Butch.

The only thing I've heard that's consistent is that coaches hate working under him.

His presence in practice and the way players respond to him tell me they don't hate him. Also, JRM/Sutton/Kamara didn't stay an extra year to play for a coach they hate.

Has anyone thought of the fact that our o line even though none of them are true freshmen only Robertson and Thomas where the only starters returning and maybe theres a reason that the others didnt didnt start last year. I know a lot of people want talk about coachin but losing both tackles from last year isnt easy to replace and maybe the older guys we are just not going to get any better. Hell alabama is,starting a true freshman that came in and earned the job in spring. Let me tell you folks nick saban didnt coach him up. he already had it. All I know is butch jones dont go to practice and watch these guys and put the 5 worst ones out there. Maybe we need some of the young guys to steps in. I dont know the answer but I know nobody else on volnation does either or they would be earning a Check on saturdays. I just gave keep the faith that butch will figure all this out, after all its his job on the line not any of yours.

Did BJ talk about "eye discipline" or the "analytics department"?

Sorry if I missed that!;)

So either the guys Butch has recruited are really not that talented or Mahoney is a failure at coaching guys up. Both are big problems. I don't necessarily have the answer either. And honestly, I will be interested to see what this team is like next year with QD under center. If the offense plays much better then we can probably assume the problems was with Dobbs. If the opposite occurs and the OL and offense still sputters then it may be time for coaching changes.
