The bureaucracy of hiring

Jaybay on TSR made a great point, reminding us that Auburn about lost their accreditation when they tried to hire Petrino over Tubberville. "Lots of government involved". This process might not happen as fast as we'd like. Did you know the University is required to put an ad in the newspaper announcing the job opening? Wonder what other bureaucratic red tape is involved? Does a public university have a Rooney rule of sorts?

Bill Haslam got the TEAM Act passed. Rewrote or completely did away with a lot of civil service laws. I'm not sure what the university rules are now but I'd bet they are more relaxed than they were in the past.
