BIZZARO WORLD:

The season is not quite half over and its already one of the strangest I can ever remember. A top five Michigan team loses to Appalachian State. Seemingly invincible USC gets beat, at home, by a totally outmanned Stanford team. USF is looking at a BCS bowl, a top five ranking, and a realistic shot to play for a national title. The only two things that seem to be true to form are LSU sitting atop the rankings and Ohio State once again getting way too much credit (don't worry, they'll get theirs).

And we still have the bulk of the season to go. Anyone want to take bets on Hawaii versus South Florida in the national championship game? How about (more likely) LSU versus Cal?

THE GATORS:

I am very proud of the Gators for hanging tough with LSU Saturday. They did everything they could except win the game. I know people on here don't like to here any pro-Tebow talk, but anyone reasonably objective sees that kid as the real deal. He nearly singlehandedly saved the Gators against Auburn and almost beat LSU at LSU. Almost. He is afraid of nothing and is a sure-fire top Heisman candidate next year.

I think we will win the rest of our SEC games this year and in fact I don't see us losing again through the regular season. Thankfully, after that bone-jarring hitting contest last Saturday, we have a much needed week off. Ironically, we need some help to overtake you in the loss column, which leads me to ....

UT:

You control your own destiny, but I think the game you are most likely to lose is at Alabama. Even at Kentucky could be difficult. Seems that this year you guys play much better at home. But on the road you have struggled and I think that will continue.

In the end, I think it will be either Florida or South Carolina getting the nod from the SECE. I'd love to have another shot at derailing LSU's title hopes and it seems that Florida may be the only team out there with the athletes to be competitive with them. I'd give UT about a 25 % chance to win the SECE from here, but only a 5% chance to beat LSU.

Without handing out the odds, I will just say as a Vol fan, it is nice to be in the driver's seat this week. I am not as confident in the Gators winning out as you are. Two SEC losses does wierd things to the psyche.

Tebow real deal? Well, its depends on your definition of real deal. He is very, very tough. A great competitor. Strong runner. Has strong arm. At this point, I do not think he is going to be a great QB outside of the UF system. He basically just throws bombs to open WR's. Watching his "passing game" and Ainge's "passing game" are like night and day.

Don't sleep on ole CLICK CLACK. You guys needed a blocked field goal last year to win or he would have a two game win streak on you. They are better than last year, you guys are not. Don't sleep on kentucky either you guys should win but they are dangerous.

Good point. Winning at South Carolina will be tough for the Gators.

Also, your point reminds me of one I made late Saturday night, which is that I do think LSU is the "team of destiny" this year. They made big play after big play (and I include in that getting a yardand a half on 4th and 1 a couple of times) to get the W. Florida did that last year and took advantage. I think LSU is this year's Florida.

Speaking of bizarre, how is 5-1 Illinois ranked behind 4-2 Florida?

LSU hasn't lost a game yet. UF got beat by an Auburn team that didn't score an offensive TD last year.

As I have said to my nephew who is a UF student, Tebow is most assuredly the real deal. And while I agree with much of what Law said, I certainly don't think FL is only team with athletes to play with LSU. While I think both UF and LSU have more team speed than UT, I think we can beat both of those teams if we show up to play with intensity, emotion, confidence, etc. Yeah, the 59-20 was a beatdown, but 28-20 with 5 min to go in 3rd qtr before the fumble return certainly contributed to that final score by more than just 7 pts.

I think UF, barring major injuries, goes unscathed the rest of way. UT, I'm not so sure, I'm most concerned about AL and SC games. Not sure about Law's premise that UT has struggled on road and played better at home. I would venture to say that the quality of our opponents at those venues has had more of an impact on our play than the location.

As I said in another thread, fasten your seatbelts, we (UT) got a 6-game playoff to get to the SECCG!

well if we are asking that question....how is UGA ahead of UT?

Largely because of our bye-week. The Dawgs have more wins than us at the moment. Still, it's quite ridiculous that they are even still in the Top 25, much less ahead of us. :realmad:

UF's defense this year doesn't have it. They will lose to UK and USC, but will probably beat a mediocre UGA team. UT wins out and goes to the SEC in Atlanta baby!!!!

I think your post is more wishful thinking on your part. Florida has one great ball player. If (the much improved)Tennessee continues to play lights out as they did Saturday, they will lose no more games. I think Florida will lose to South Carolina and that will be three losses for them.

I'm going to downgrade my forecast on the Gators and say they have a 65% chance of winning the remainder of their SEC games.

Florida lost by four points at LSU. That's not a bad loss at all. I'd say Florida played LSU much, much closer than anyone expected.

If I was a Florida fan, I wouldn't have many negatives about the game. However, as an outside observer, I felt like they were living on borrowed time all game.

Don't kid yourself, they have more than 1 great player....Tebow is solid, Percy Harvin is awesome and Major Wright might be the best safety in the league as a freshman.

LSU might go unbeaten but even they could trip up. The NC game may have two teams in it noone even expected to be there. Weird year:crazy:

I was disappointed that we lost, having played them so tough. But I didn't think that Florida was living on borrowed time. Until the fumble at midfield early in the 4th quarter, when we had a ten point lead, I felt that Florida was in control of the game since, every time that LSU scored, Florida answered.

By the way, I hear that during the game the LSU crowd was chanting "F U Tebow" over and over. Real classy. They hate him because he's such a terrific player, pure and simple. At least most of the people on here -- even those who had been predicting that UT's defensive players would put a hurting on him -- came on after the game and gave the man his due.

I am really starting to hate LSU and Auburn.

Can't really blame you for that.

Tebow is a darn good QB. That ball he threw from the 45 was unbelievable. Fortunately, right now, he appears stoppable.

IMO LSU and Fla are pretty evenly matched concerning team speed and talent and as much as I hate to say it about Les Miles I think he willed his team to win Sat with his going for it on 4th down all those times.
