The best part isn't happening - No Running through the T

Maybe the cheerleaders will line up in a much more spread out T (socially distanced from each other, of course) and the lads still run through it. While the POTSB plays from the stands, exactly what they would be playing on the field.

Nothing says we can't do that.

Go Vols!

Keeping the band off the field will really help keep everyone safe. Now that we know this is the key, maybe the Big 10 and Pac 10 can play football.

If this is the key then can we still play Oklahoma? How about we keep the SEC ACC rivalries alive. I mean the B1G and Pac 12 are weak and scared while the SEC is so brave. Not very brave to cancel in-state rivalry games that have been happening for over 100 years.

Come on, JP! Normally you would have a graph or 2 showing how many cheerleaders it would take to form a "T" at 2.5 and 5 yard (socially distant) intervals. Don't slack off now. We need this!

So, back to recruiting... when is our 5-star commit coming?

Agreed. The band on the field and the players running out in open air? Bring it on!!!
I don't know...trumpets, trumbones and tubas can emit a lot of water droplets to run through..

Lots of restrictions on who can be on the field. The band is one element that cannot sadly relegated to the stands.

No running through the ‘T’: SEC releases additional football guidelines for bands, visiting fans | WATE 6 On Your Side

Yeah, another let's just blame it on C-19, and pocket the difference in losing money and not going about life as usual. I know, but some way or other schools have figured out ways to make money from this ailment. Don't believe me?? just see how many refunded room and board or tuition for the missed part of spring classes. Not only that but look and see how many have raised all prices for this coming fall classes And cut them short (some at thanksgiving). Some and at least one very close to us VolNationers are having students one campus but having them take classes on-line, not in classroom. So if you don't have the expense of band travel,!, we will save money and it's C-19's fault. Just another thought, wonder how many professors were laid off when they had no one to teach in the late spring and summer???

Have you ever played an instrument? Do you realize how much tubing the moisture has to travel through. 99% or better ends up trapped in the instrument and has to be cleared using one of the drain valves. Even my saxophone wouldn't let droplets of moisture travel into the T. A trumpet sounds hilarious when the tubes are full of liquid.

I know there are a lot on here that criticize and belittle those of us on here that were in the Pride of the Southland Marching Band, but you have NO idea of how amazing it feels to be on the field during a UT football game. You think it is inspiring watching the team sprint onto the field when the T opens; you have no clue the adrenaline rush when you are part of the T. We could feel the anticipation building as we collapsed the show formation and slowly built the stick T, then the roar of the crowd is deafening when we made the turn and opened it up. You could see the fire build in the players eyes as they ran past us. That is an experience that only a select few, slightly more than 320 each year, will ever get to experience.
