The barrel is back!!

You are excited because you clearly didnt read the article:

The owner of Sweetens Cove Spirits Company, Mark Rivers, created a special bourbon barrel to commemorate the Kentucky vs. Tennessee matchup today. Along with creating the barrel, all proceeds will go to a great cause for the winning team.

Nothing to do with bringing back the ACTUAL barrel or anything similar to it, just a (smart) take to commercialize a tradition.

What's hypocritical is selling beer to fans yet banning the beer barrel trophy. Ridiculous especially when you consider these respective states reputation for whiskey and bourbon...yeah, I know they're both whiskey/whisky, but the TN/KY distinction still applies.

I know the story behind the beer barrel. Death is tragic under any circumstance. However, I want to see that tradition reinstated.

Thankfully the Germans did not cancel Oktoberfest when that dude died in a car crash on the Autoban on his way home.

If all else fails, just call it The Barrel. Just bring the damn thing back! "The Battle for the Barrel"

The article doesn’t say anything about buy in from either school. This is not the beer barrel. This is a business owner trying to get publicity for a distillery. This has nothing to do with the tradition.

No need to get personal. I did read the article. So it’s not the actual barrell, it’s a symbol. Different day and age. But I thought it was cool that they even did that….

didn’t mean to come across as a personal attack. What I responded to was a misleading headline that made everyone instantly think it was THE barrel coming back, it’s kinda clickbait y, which probably was not your intent.
