I understand it in the way a lot of PGA golfers hated Tiger Woods when he first burst on to the scene. He made the sport more popular than ever and a lot of golfers felt jilted because they also had a lot of success and no one cared until Tiger.

Obviously it's childish and it's immature. A rising tide lifts all ships after all. But it's natural to be feel jealous when you've put in a lot of work and no one noticed for years.
