The Atlanta Braves

The All star game itself is a joke. Haven't watched an entire game since the mid 90s. Players dont really care. Most rather have the time off unless there's some kind of money bonus in their contract. But mostly its interleague play that killed the appeal for me.

Homerun derby is even worse. Getting excited over batting practice is a thing I guess for some .

I actually disagree with this. Not that it's appointment viewing or I'm recording it, but since they switched to the time format about a decade ago I think the HR derby is fun and enjoyable.

I thought Ryen Russillo made a great point about all-star games in general in 2025. They are not needed and they don't really serve a purpose. With League Pass, MLB TV, ESPN+ all of it + social media you get to watch guys more than ever before. You also put in the fact that MLB has completely integrated from NL/AL and everybody plays everybody now, the allure just isn't there like it was 20-25 years ago.

In 1998, you got to watch Ken Griffey Jr maybe 5-10 times a year if you were an East Coast Kid (not including playoffs). Now I can watch every Mike Trout home run ever on YouTube if I wanted. Just completely different eras.
