The Atlanta Braves

matt stafford getting a few too many roses for a guy who tore OBJ’s ACL
Stafford is a strange one. People are all over sports radio down here talking Hall of Fame. I've always thought he was good; not great. Then you realize he's going to end up being a statistical top 10 QB of all time and wonder how it happened. He's Matt Ryan/Philip Rivers - with a ring.

I don't understand how Stafford becomes an HOFer because of this past season he had or because he won the SB. You are correct that many are talking up an HOF candidacy, and I know to a certain degree that is hot take artists and people trying to capitalize on the fact that he just won the SB to drive ratings to their show. However it seems like an opinion on his HOF candidacy shouldn't be changed by this one season.

Stafford, Ryan, and Rivers are all HOFers, IMO. With or without rings. People seem to forget that football is a team sport. QB is the single most important position, but it isn't more important than all the other positions put together. I know baseball doesn't have a QB-like position where a single player has outsized influence, but I've never heard "...but he didn't win a WS" held against a baseball player's HOF candidacy. Dan Marino is thought less of by some because he never won a league championship, but Ted Williams isn't.

First year away from Detroit and he has a ring. That organization is a black hole. Drafted by anyone else and who knows? Fastest to 30,000, 40,000 and 50,000. He is a Hall of Famer easily.

Matt Stafford is directly responsible for giving Cooper Kupp one of the most accoladed seasons for a non QB of all time.

He makes players around him much better. He most definitely does not suck.

That's what is so funny about this "Stafford is definitely a HOFer now!!!" narrative. I don't remember this huge push to getting him enshrined before the SB, which tells me that many think he's a HOF QB now because he won a SB. He didn't even play all that well in the SB, and was not remotely close to being the best player on his team during that game.

It all boils down to people falling over themselves with hot takes and not understanding the extent to which it is a team game. Stafford was an HOFer before the SB, would be a HOFer if they lost the SB, and was a HOFer before this season started.

Also, why aren't the Fords ripped as owners to the extent that other bad owners get ripped? I know Lions fans hate them; I'm talking more about national media.

I think it's just so obvious that it feels like piling on. Also, you've got owners like Dan Snyder who are somehow easier to hate.
The media loves to pile on though (we as Vol fans know this better than anyone else). Agreed on Snyder though; he seems to take bad ownership to another level by trying to squeeze every dime he can out of his fanbase while providing little value (i.e., wins).
