The Atlanta Braves

You can talk yourself into any candidate. We’ve been doing it for years. Those are the only two reasonably appropriate candidates that we know will succeed.

We are one more google coach away from this thing being over, forever, if it isn’t already.
I don't see how they can go anywhere near Hugh Freeze. Kiffin would make sense except the money guys aren't going to forget the way he left here and buried the program.

I see a boring hire in our future.

Basilio and John Adams both think Pruitt won't be touchable for Saban. Thinks TN has bought itself some grace. He does think the NCAA adds something.
Adams thinks we need to self impose a bowl ban for next year. And then do a small scholarship reduction, he doesn't think the NCAA adds much of anything else.

Stole from RF but Basillo has been more reliable than VQ guys this entire thing. Guess he has a source.

That sounds right. And if that’s the worst then so be it.

Since the pod is mainly for you guys, what would you be interested in for us to do tonight? Just go over candidates? Review the Pruitt situation? Just a general overview?

I think the narrative of Kiffin burying the program is greatly exaggerated.

I think it is now . . . but creating a 2nd coaching transition in 13 months definitely blew a hole in the 2009 and 2010 classes on top of the slop that was there in 2008 and probably created a 4-5 year hangover. We did the rest by blowing 3 straight coach hires in wake of it.

Phil got fired a couple years too late, Lane was a good hire, but wound up being at a bad time due to the USC job coming open unexpectedly, and every hire since then has been trying to make the best of a bad situation. Today seems like just maybe we’re going to try to be proactive for once, instead of reactive.

Otherwise know as trying to cover your ass for when the NCAA comes calling.

Definitely proactive in that regard, but I’m hoping maybe proactive in regards to the program/coaching, as in “This is never going to work, let’s just bite the bullet now and get the next hire done right.”

A man can dream.

We can’t even get the year right on the walking papers. Not a great start.

Maybe he was fired last January and has just been showing up anyway.
